Hi all,

See below for info about a protest in solidarity of the Haitian community.  It's pretty short notice. The protest is tomorrow at 1:30 in SF. But if anyone can be there that would be great. I am in a retreat for the LeaderSpring fellowship until Wednesday, so unfortunately I can't.

We hope and our comrades in AROC are well. In thinking of groups to gain support and to show solidarity with our struggle in Haiti, your consistent and sisterly work came to mind. I believe you are familiar with our Brother Pierre Labossiere of the Haiti Action Committee. He has been a consistent participant at our African Liberation Day program and a fixture in the Bay Area in calling for justice for all! We/He would be honored if some of our Palestinian and other members of AROC could come out tomorrow to show solidarity. Thank you for your work and support. Unfortunately, I am out of town and will not be able to attend, but we know that the struggle continues!

On Tuesday, November 19th in San Francisco, Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and actor Sean Penn (named “Ambassador at Large for Haiti” by President Michel Martelly) will spread the false message of the fraudulent Martelly government at the Dreamforce Conference, an annual event of the cloud computing company Salesforce.com.

 

At this very moment, meanwhile, in Haiti thousands demonstrated today against the illegitimate Martelly/Lamothe government in street protests marking the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Vertieres and the victory of the Haitian Revolution. The people of Haiti remain under an occupation instigated by the United States and United Nations in 2004.

 

As supporters of the Martelly government, which is bringing back dictatorship to Haiti, Prime Minister Lamothe and actor Sean Penn DO NOT speak for the Haitian majority.

 

Please join Haiti Action Committee to say no to US-backed dictatorship. Stand in solidarity with Haiti's popular movement to protest the lies, corruption and repression of the Martelly/Lamothe government.
