Dear ARNOVA Friends,
I hope you are doing well.
We plan to submit a proposal for a research round table on machine learning and data science at ARNOVA 2021.
For several years, several scholars have been presenting regularly on machine learning in nonprofit studies. However, since we started, data science and machine learning in nonprofit studies have evolved a lot. It will be great if we can have discussants from different angles, including papers from the US and abroad, and papers that are using machine learning methods to answer exciting questions in novel ways.
Also, it would be great to have some more conceptual papers regarding what machine learning bringing to nonprofit studies. Especially, is machine learning and just a new method, or is the data science approach going to change our approaches to nonprofit studies fundamentally and prepare the next generation of data scientists for public service and data-driven managers?
Attempting to define the role of data science and machine learning can help us express ourselves and our role in the broader field over the following years.
I am coordinating the submission process, so please let me know if anyone is interested in presenting at rwa...@iu.edu. Since we are running short of time, please let me know of your interest by May 1, 2021 as members can submit their proposals by May 3.
