I think the beep sound for the custom/auto control setting is messed up. When I rotate the phone in auto setting from horizontal to vertical or vice versa, it changes the control, but there's no beep. If I rotate when using custom control, the neutral angle remains (so no change to the control), but the beep does sound when the phone reaches vertical position. So it seems you have the beep going off for the wrong control mode.
