Dear APMA members,
Thank you for your support to our club and thank you for visiting us on Fridays. This time our guest for Friday Evening will be Mr. Sam Tahmasian, Project Manager at Boston Scientific. Mr. Tahmasian has 8 years of experience in development of class 3 implantable medical devices. He successfully completed and launched several products in a highly regulated industry, which is Healthcare. He has proven track record in leading teams through design controls for verification and validation for regulatory submissions.
Mr. Tahmasian will present the story about the implantable medical device they developed in just 18 months and shipped to customers. Here is a brief story for Mr. Tahmasian’s presentation:
In 2001 I was hired to work on a project for Advancedbionics (Now part of the Neuromodulation division of Boston Scientific), in August the project was cancelled and the entire team had to be redirected to work on the two other projects within the company. However we soon found out that the owner of the company had sold the IP writes to a proprietary chip we were using. Thus started the intense 18 months where we had to bring up a brand new platform of a product that had already been submitted to the FDA using this proprietary chip and we started work on the second generation ASAP. We developed a brand new system, borrowing some elements from my previous project, in just over 18 months. We passed all FDA and IEC/EN testing requirements, and had our entire program submitted to the FDA by end of 2003 and we shipped our first 2nd gen device in April of 2004 (after FDA approval).
