Good morning, scholars.

First, I'd like to announce that we have finally settled on a blunt longsword to endorse for club use, and will therefore begin our move away from wasters as our primary training tool. The approved sword is the the Hanwei Practical Hand and a Half Sword, and runs the same price as the wooden and nylon wasters we previously recommended. While we're still working with a vendor to set up a complete uniform package, including sword and helmet, you can presently order it from KoA directly. Discerning and moneyed individuals should continue to look to Albion Arms for the finest training swords made by man. I expect the transition to steel will be complete by January, so begin planning now.

Second, we have been invited to participate in the annual BYU club  week festivities, 'Involvapalooza'. The event will be held from 1100 to 1400 on Wednesday and Thursday. I will only be able to be there intermittently due to other obligations, but Eli is going to try to make it. Who else can come? I'd like to have three or more people there if possible. We'll be doing demonstrations, answering questions, and generally recruiting new members for Fall semester. Let me know who's available and when.

Thanks.

Did you determine the cause of the pommel failure?

The approved sword is the the Hanwei Practical Hand and a Half Sword,

For the benefit of Jen and others who have the old Hanwei practicals, this is a much improved version of the sword. The balance his like night and day. Not an Albion by any stretch of the imagination, but enough that I'd seriously consider buying a new one.

I contacted the company and they agreed that it was a problem with the peening, and extremely unusual. They asked me to send the sword back so they could give me a new one.

I'll be there both days.  I'd like to have some other folks there in uniform, but if you have to come in "civies" I understand.  Just don't leave me out in the cold.  It would suck if I had to borrow from The Quill and The Sword to do demos.  See you tonight. :)

BTW Mike, do we have a finalized location for this?  Thanks.
