As some of you might be aware, there has been a great deal of internal turmoil within the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts. Among other things, this turmoil resulted in our neighbors to the north, ARMA Ogden/SLC, parting ways with the ARMA last month.
Today, Eli Combs (our current study group leader), along with Brian Hunt (a Senior Researcher and one of our satellite members), Stewart Feil and Jacob Norwood (our former study group leaders), tendered their resignations from ARMA. I myself have not been a member of ARMA for some two years now. Of the remaining three ARMA members in the study group, one has been dismissed from ARMA already today, and I have not been able to reach the other two to ask them, but I must assume that they have also been dismissed. Because of these facts, in my capacity as acting Study Group Leader and with the consent of permanent Study Group Leader Eli Combs, I am officially disbanding the ARMA Provo Study Group, effective immediately.
Some of you may be wondering at this point, how will this affect those of you who are not ARMA members and merely attend practice? The answer is not at all. Practice will continue unchanged, and instruction will be offered according to the current schedule. ARMA uniforms and rank will be honored until such time as we affiliate with another organization.
For those who missed the last message, practice times for the warm season will be as follows:
Tuesday: 5:30 - 7:30, focusing on longsword development
Thursday: 5:30 - 7:30, focusing on dagger and grappling
Saturday: 11:00 - 1:00, focusing on mixed weapons or other areas of interest
All practice will be held on the quad between the Wilk and the HFAC, beginning tomorrow.
Though there's a lot of chaos at the moment, I will try to keep it from disrupting the operation of the study group whenever possible. Thank you.
