to ArLiSNAP
Hi all,
I'm going to start this ball rolling with by tossing out a few
statements about possible projects:
--I think it would be great to strengthen ArLiSNAP's alliances with
student groups, either through an extension of the ArLiSNAP brand name
to existing/new groups or by having active representatives and formal
alignment with ArLiSNAP mentioned in the group's mission statement.
Does this seem like a worthy endeavor?
--There is a chance our group's website will soon be officially hosted
within the ARLIS site, which I think is a big coup. It formalizes our
status as an official entity of the larger group, plus will allow us a
lot more flexibility in terms of the amount/types of content we can
host. I know the idea of more media on the blog has been flown around
(recordings of lectures, q/a sessions, a how-to series) and this
transition might make that possible. In general, I'd like the blog to
take on a much more active content structure, but the problem is
cultivating that. If we move to a bigger stage, I want to have a
bigger show to put on. Ideas?
--I think we need regional liaisons within the group that can report
on various chapter meetings and doing outreach to students/new
professionals. Eh? I think it might also be time to implement a more
formal and extensive structure for the groups governance. Personally,
I don't think my work will be done when my term is up and I'd like to
stay on in some capacity. Likewise, I think the co-coordinators can
use more help to develop new/existing areas of interest for the
group. What do we think about more governance and formal
representation?
Okay. That's a start. Let's discuss.
Cheers.
