Corvid madness

I was just treated to quite the show here on Jason St. I heard a loud croaky noise and went to see what was up. There was a raven on a rooftop being dive-bombed by a crow. And then the bluejays were jeering in the background.

And after the raven departed and I was typing this, the bluejays really set up a cry. I found a Cooper’s hawk high up in a neighbor’s cedar and lots of jays mobbing it. I suspected the hawk was threatening a nest.

Wow.
