Cynthia – trying again, to see if this won’t bounce back.
As it turns out things could be worse. The Transportation Commission just voted in favor of more traffic, and the Planning Commission is in favor of both cars and more traffic.
At this point I think a letter to the County Manager is in order, as well as testimony at the Board hearing.
If it makes sense I will draft a letter for the BAC’s approval.

Vision and Goals Update
We have presented the Proposed Vision and Goals to the Transportation Commission and Planning Commission. Both Commissions voted to endorse the Vision and Goals, with recommended modifications to the proposed statements.
Transportation Commission
Overall Vote
The Transportation Commission voted 7-2 to endorse the Vision and Goals with a modification to the Sustainable goal, changing the clause ‘move more people without more traffic’ to ‘move more people through multiple options’.
Planning Commission
Vision Statement:
The Planning Commission voted 6 – 4 to remove the phrase ‘without having to depend on a car’ from the vision statement.
Livable Goal:
The Planning Commission voted 10-0 to add ‘natureful’ to the goal statement: ‘Create a transportation system that provides enjoyable and natureful spaces...’
Sustainable Goal:
The Planning Commission voted 10-0 to change the clause ‘move more people without more traffic’ to ‘move more people through multiple options’.
Overall Vote:
With those 3 modifications to the Vision and Goal statements the Planning Commission voted 10-0 to recommend their endorsement.
County Board Hearing
The Proposed Vision and Goals, as well as the recommended modifications from the Commissions, will be brought to the Board for their consideration at their July meeting.
Next Advisory Group Meeting
At our next meeting we will start discussing 2050 modeling and what the future may hold. We are targeting Wednesday July 16 or Thursday July 17 for this meeting. Please let us know if you have conflicts on either date by June 10.
