June BAC meeting tonight at 7 pm

Hi BAC and friends,

Attached please find the agenda for tonight's BAC meeting.

The Microsoft link is at the bottom of this email.

We will have presentations from the micromobility companies -- Lime, Bird and Spin. Then we will discuss the Master Transportation Plan and priority bikeways. Finally, we will talk about BAC membership issues.

As usual, there are multiple topics we have asked to discuss but that are considered out-of-bounds due to DES policy of not interacting with the BAC and the PAC. This includes anything related to specific road-safety design and infrastructure. 

"DES staff do not attend Committee meetings for individual capital projects. Since 2018, engagement on capital projects follows the County Board’s Six Step Guide to Public Engagement which encourages participation of everyone, including transportation advisory committees at scheduled public engagement opportunities for transportation projects. This practice ensures both broader public engagement and effective/efficient use of the County’s limited resources."

This leaves us at a crossroads...

We have requested a meeting with Hui Wang, deputy director of transportation to talk, about design standards -- as County Manager Schwartz said he would be open to our input in this realm. Elwyn reports that Hui will meet with us sometime later this year.
