Hi PACers:
RE: Homework 1 Gap Analysis of Maps
Deadline: Friday October 10, 5PM
This is how I looked at the maps:
- I primarily looked at the combined map, which shows both the bike priority and transit priority routes. I kept expanding the maps until I could see the connections and streets.
- Have another map that shows ALL the street names as most street names are NOT on the maps! I used an old Bike Comfort Map.
- Focus on the routes that are on the maps (but if you think a major route - for either transit or bike - is missing, please list it.)
- Focus on areas that you are familiar with.- where you live, as well as other routes that you use for transit, bike, walking.
- If a corridor route is transit priority, bicyclists can ride on the sidewalks - so it's important to flag any sidewalk issues for these routes. Think about the current sidewalk conditions for the routes you comment on - and if the sidewalk infrastructure will need more width and other improvements to make the ped route truly safe and comfortable. When you comment on a route, add your comments on sidewalks as needed.
- The draft maps only list SCHOOLS as a key destination. Think about what other destinations are important for both transit riders and bicyclists/micromobile riders - and add missing destinations to the list at the top of my document.
- Please add your comments to this GoogleDoc doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CPdzbQwnsdHBDUW5BU-MeInb7bU-yxgH0TKVmuTywW0/edit?usp=sharing and include your initials after your suggestions. If you prefer, you can put your suggestions in a Word document or an email.
Please note that I have sent you Ambar's and Eric G's list today.
THANKS - I look forward to your ideas.
Good thoughts
