Columbia Pike Detouring onto Southgate Road

Starting the week of January 23, Columbia Pike from South Orme Street to South Joyce Street will close to accommodate the federal project to expand the Arlington National Cemetery. 

Traffic Impacts

  • All traffic will detour through the new South Nash Street and Southgate Road
  • The Air Force Memorial bus stop will close, and a temporary stop will open on South Nash Street
  • A pedestrian/bike connector is available on Southgate Road and South Joyce Street

Three Transit Stations Opening on January 30

Three transit stations will open on Columbia Pike on Monday, January 30 in anticipation of potential upcoming winter weather.

  • Columbia Pike westbound & South Dinwiddie Street
  • Columbia Pike westbound & South Buchanan Street
  • Columbia Pike eastbound & South Four Mile Run Drive

The temporary bus stop on Columbia Pike eastbound & South Wakefield Street will remain open during construction on Columbia Pike between South Wakefield Street and South Taylor Street for Segment F of the Columbia Pike Multimodal Street Improvements project.

Transit Stations Opening January 30

Washington Gas Utility Work on Columbia Pike

In early 2023, Washington Gas will be conducting work on their utilities on Columbia Pike, between South Walter Reed Drive and South Courthouse. This work is anticipated to be completed last about five to six months.

 

Traffic impacts of Washington Gas' work will include partial lane closures and turn restrictions at intersections along this segment of road. Work is anticipated to last five to six months. 

 

We will share information as it is confirmed by Washington Gas.

Washington Gas - Columbia Pike

Bus Stop Relocation at South George Mason Drive

The bus stop at Columbia Pike eastbound at South George Mason Drive will be temporarily relocated about 150 feet west starting January 15.

 

This change will affect ART 41, and Metrobus routes 16ACEGHY.
