Subject: Vision Zero Stakeholders - Jan 28 Meeting Reminder & Updates

Happy New Year, Vision Zero External Stakeholders – See below for January action items and program updates…

Action Items:

  1. Our next virtual Action Plan Update Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, from 7pm – 8:30pm. Please join us and share with your organization/community!
  2. We’re working on the 2025 Annual Vision Zero Progress Report. Please send any updates from your organization that you’d like to include in the report by Friday, February 13.
  3. Share the January behavior campaign: Let’s all look out for each other (see graphics attached)

Program Updates:

  • 2026-2028 High-Injury Network Audit Schedule: We’re ready to start auditing the new 2026-2028 HIN, starting with S Glebe Rd from Columbie Pike to 24th Rd S in February. View the HIN page to see the full three-year audit cycle schedule.
  • Action Plan Update Status: We just published the Phase 1 Public Engagement full report and executive summary. We have also been drafting content and action items for the plan, which we will share for your feedback at the January 28 ESG meeting.
  • Pilot Updates:
    • Leading Through Interval: We are expecting to install the pilot at Wilson Blvd/N Lynn St within the next two months and have been monitoring the installation at Washington Blvd/10th St N.
    • Bike Lane & Right Turn Conflicts: We will publish an update next month sharing the data and feedback from the first phase of the pilot, as well as next steps for pilot expansion.
    • Tactical Speed Humps Pilot: We have ordered two tactical speed cushion devices (humps with gaps to accommodate EMS vehicles and bicycles) for installation and testing on two of the remaining phase 3 corridors. Installation will likely be in early spring followed by data collection and a public feedback opportunity.
    • Route 50 & Highland St Median Closure: We are working with VDOT on the review of the pilot and potential expansion to more uncontrolled intersections on Route 50.
    • Speed Management Pilot: We’ve installed three locations, and the remainder are in the queue for installation this winter/spring. We’ve had some slight delays with roll out but are looking forward to collecting after data and sharing findings by the end of the year.

Feel free to reach out with any feedback or questions. Thanks, and see you on the 28th!

I'll be there. This is the kind of thing we need to be all over.
