Hi all -- some useful info below for those who ride on the Bluemont Trail.

Thanks to both Elwyn and Pam for flagging this alert.
(I have a huge deadline today so I'm a bit behind on emails!)

Happy weekend, all.

Bluemont Junction Trail Repaving Update

Phase 2 of construction for the Bluemont Junction Trail Milling and Repaving project will begin starting the week of November 17. This project will improve the Bluemont Junction and Four Mile Run Trails as well as key connection points. The timeline below reflects the intended work schedule, which may be adjusted due to weather:

  • Project Area 1A: Milling and repaving the trail's concrete/asphalt from November 17 - December 3.
    • Pedestrian crossing will be installed between December 30 - January 6, 2026, but this will not affect the trail.
  • Project Area 1B: Milling and repaving the trail's concrete/asphalt from November 18 - November 24.
  • Project Area 2: Milling, repaving, and restriping from November 24 - December 3.
    • Pedestrian bridge repairs and improvements will take place from December 31 - February 11.
  • Project  3A: Milling, repaving, and restriping from November 24 - December 3.
    • Installation of bike repair station will be completed by December 3.
  • Project Area 3B: Milling, repaving, and restriping from November 25 - November 26.

While this project is underway, trail segments will be blocked-off with signs detailing the detour route(s). We understand that the Bluemont Junction and Four Mile Run Trails are important routes for commuters and recreation. Please refer to the project webpage or site signage for detours and best alternative routes.

Staff estimate that the project will be completed by February 2026, weather permitting. The schedule above is subject to change as needed. We’ll continue to keep you updated as the project moves forward.
