Hi, Vision Zero Stakeholders – See below for July updates!
We Need Your Help to Jump Start the Vision Zero Action Plan Update
Look out for an email from me this week to check in with your organization, confirm your representative for the Action Plan Update process, and request some initial feedback that we will use to gear up for our first public engagement and ESG meeting this October.
Help Us Share July’s Campaign Theme: Scooter Age Limits! (Graphics Attached)
Riders must be 18 years of age or older to use most shared e-scooter or e-bikes! Those under 18 have other options, including using non-motorized bikes/scooters or taking transit. Arlington residents enrolled in K-12th grade are eligible for a free iRide SmarTrip card! Learn more about scooter/bike safety.
Tool Based Before/After Studies – What We’ve Learned!
We recently completed a Tool-Based Before/After Studies project with the support of a contracting team. The project’s objective was to evaluate how five engineering tools affected safety at various locations in the County: curb modifications, hardened centerlines, tactical speed humps, speed limit pavement markings, and no-turn-on-red signage. Learn more about the results, findings, and recommendations going forward in the Tool-Based Before/After Studies Summary Report & Appendix. Results from these evaluations were integrated into the recently-updated Vision Zero Multimodal Safety Engineering Toolbox.
2024 Hot Spots Wrap Up
We perform an annual hot spot analysis using our crash data to identify individual intersections or locations that experience higher crash rates. The objective is to implement quick-build crash mitigation measures. View the complete 2024 Hot Spots Action Summary to learn about next steps for each location. Look out for an update on the 2025 hot spots analysis next month.
2025 Annual Safety Feedback Summary
In April 2025, we received 672 online responses, 14 mailed responses, and had 1,005 in-person interactions in response to the 2025 Annual Safety Feedback Engagement effort. View the short summary or the full-length report to learn what we heard and how we are using the feedback.
