Vision Zero 2025 Mid-Year Stakeholder Group Meeting Recap

On the evening of Tuesday, October 8, Arlington Staff, community stakeholder representatives, and community members joined together in a conversation about progress, outcomes, and opportunities for the Vision Zero Action Plan Update. Some themes that emerged in the discussion included:

  • In general, stakeholders have noticed that quick build and pilot projects have improved traffic speeds and make roads safer but expressed a desire to make these initiatives permanent and see faster deployment of treatments.
  • Stakeholders appreciate the County’s willingness to try new safety treatments and encouraged the County to take advantage of new technologies.
  • There was general concern about speeding on arterial roads and a desire to see tools in the Multimodal Safety Engineering Toolbox be applied on arterial roads.
  • Stakeholders encourage more connectivity and safety treatments around trails and parks.
  • There was an appreciation for one-pagers on Vision Zero initiatives and encouraged the team to use more non-technical language for residents.
  • There was general enthusiasm and excitement to partner with Vision Zero on different safety initiatives and engagement activities throughout the County.
