Hi all,
Weather permitting, the first Astronomy Night will be tomorrow: Saturday June 15th. If you haven’t ever been to one, here’s the scoop: I, and occasionally some other folks, will set up a my telescope by the benches that overlook Boston in Robbins Farm Park. We’ll look at the mostly full Moon which will be rising around sundown. As it gets darker, we’ll also see Jupiter and its moons. Folks line up and take turns looking through the telescope(s). This is a free event and fun for all ages. Kids under 5 may have a hard time figuring out how to look through a telescope though.
All the details are available at my website,

This Saturday I’ll get started at around 8pm or a few minute earlier. You might want to use bug spray, and keep in mind that it will cool off fairly quickly as the sun sets. It will still be light out when we start, but as it gets dark, if you use a flashlight to come and go, I’ll request that you keep your flashlights pointed down at the ground. It takes a while for our eyes to adapt to seeing in low light (which helps looking through the telescope) but we can loose that adaptation very quickly with bright lights.
There’s a lot of uncertainty in the cloud cover forecasts at the moment. It is going to get cloudy, but it may hold off until after midnight. If you look outside and see clear sky, i’ll probably be up at the park. You can also check your email - I’ll send a note to this group if I decide to cancel. If you hear nothing, I’ll be at the park!
