Hi all,
We'll have one more astronomy night tomorrow night, Saturday, Oct 5th, starting at 6:45 in Robbins Farm Park. It is going to be fairly cool tomorrow, but the skies are forecast to be clear. From the web site: "The first quarter Moon lights the Southern sky as as dusk settles in tonight. With the Moon half full, the areas on the edge between light and dark are lit from the side, giving a sense of the depth of the craters and the peaks of the rims. Saturn appears close beside the moon tonight, with Jupiter still the brightest point in the South-West sky."
We had some bad weather luck, but tomorrow is shaping up to be pretty good as long as the Sunday clouds don't arrive early. The cooler air will result in better "seeing" (the quality of the image you get when looking through the telescope), and it should limit mosquito activity as the little buggers calm down with temps around 50 and below. Many of them may even be killed off with temps in the upper 30s tonight. That said, I would still strongly recommend bug spray and dressing warmly with long sleeves and long pants. As always, please keep flashlights pointed down at the ground.
Hoping for good weather and for one last hurrah!
Jeff
