June brought a return to warm and dry conditions across Colorado, along with fast-growing wildfires.

June 2026 Monthly Climate Summary Warm and dry conditions returned to Colorado in June. A statewide drought emergency was declared in June, and several fast-growing fires started late in the month. June is also the typical peak for severe thunderstorm activity in Colorado, and this year was no exception. There were several storms with large hail, and Akron was hit with wind gusts of over 100 mph and an intense rainstorm. Water Year 2026 continues to be the warmest on record by a large margin, and the 4th driest.
