I am trying to use Bitdefender, but I keep getting a message that says my browser is not supported, and to update to the latest version of Internet Explorer.

I do not use Internet Explorer...I use Firefox.

Desktop computer...not mobile device.

the version of internet explorer on this machine is not supported please upgrade and try again

Windows is my operating system, and of *course* I have the latest updates installed for THAT.

But I prefer to use Firefox as a browser.

So, you are saying the only browser that works with Bitdefender is Internet Explorer?

That's pretty bad....and, if so, why?

Lots of people use Chrome, and other browsers...

Also, I saw this somewhere, which was what made me come here and ask:

Only the toolbar is not compatible with Firefox because BitDefender has probably not updated the toolbar. You can post on the BitDefender forum for confirmation about the toolbar, when it will be updated, etc. BitDefender should still be working in the background to protect you.

It downloaded fine, but when I try and use it to run a scan...it won't run it..a window pops up that says:

"Your browser is not supported, please update to the latest version of Internet Explorer.

Well I was going to give Bitdefender free a try and upgrade if it was to my liking, but I'm not 'upgrading' Internet Explorer for love nor money, so you lost a potential customer. IE has something like 11% market share, and yet you think it's a good business decision to make it mandatory for your antivirus? It took me long enough to get rid of all the various versions from my computer, it'll be a cold day Satan's palace in before I invite them back.

Same here, I tried to use Bitedender for the very first time and after the installation it told me to install internet explorer, seriously? december 9 2020 and you want me to install abandoware? good bye for good Bitedefender, thank you for nothing. Way to go on losing potential customers.

I use Bitdefender on my more powerful desktop PC, no problems. But now I installed it on my less powerful laptop. I try to have my laptop clean from heavy applications and havent upgraded Internet explorer - who use it anyway?. I use Google Chrome.

Actually i think that bitdefender will be good silent antivirus without problems. And after read articles about bitdefender i want buy total security. Thank god i did not pay for it. And download to try before buy. Because i have same problem - i cant run it! "Your browser is not supported". I don't use IE. I can't update IE easily. This is not user friendly. This is sad!

I'm an old customer of the solution and have a family package which means I would like to have my parents protected without much fuss. For them I need to have a headless bitdefender protection. The dashboard runs for me and they should not be bothered.

I really hope there is a workaround to run the initiation for a Windows 8 Pro without IE 11 (not available there at all) through other means (e.g. some command line with some flags) otherwise I will have to look for competitors as well...

I am using a FREE version. I have the same issue. Trying to use app on my MAC (Sonoma 14.2). After a recent reboot, my Evernote will not open. "Client not supported, please upgrade." Using Evernote 10.38.3-mac-mas-public. v1.53.4

A new version of the software came out that resolved the issue for me. No announcement or anything, which would have been nice. "Hey, we fixed the bug, load the new version". I just kept loading any new versions hoping for a fix and eventually one appeared.

Not sure why this error keeps popping up for folks. The app is smart enough to give you the message that the client is having an issue (and may need an upgrade), but it's stupid enough to not fix itself by offering to upgrade. People have to post here or read threads like this to sort it out. I have other software on my computer that knows when more current versions exist and gives me a path to upgrade. This software sadly does not, so now after spending the time and effort to figure it out, I'll get the upgrade and look into another app that is written better to give my subscription $ to.

I also got the message of Client not supported on my Windows 10 machine. Fixed it by going to the web page of evernote and signing in. Then there was the option to update on the bottom left corner of evernote. I clicked on it to downloaded the update then closed the web browser after it had downloaded and ran the .exe file that I had downloaded. This updated me to the latest version and the message went away when I opened the app and all is well!

Unacceptable behavior for software I have to pay a lot of money for nowadays! I was in the middle of an important tasks and Evernote just stopped working. Then I found out from this topic I had to download the latest version to be able to work again. I lost twenty minutes with that.
Even most free software shows a message that there is a new version available, but certainly doesn't stop working in the middle of a task.

Very disappointed in Evernote (again)...

Do you work for Evernote? I keep seeing your posts in support of bad software practices... don't force me to login on a web browser and download an upgrade. What decade is this? The UX for upgrades is WELL defined by thousands of software packages. giving me a login screen on my app, having me input my user name THEN telling me the client is NOT supported, THEN making me go to a web browser is quite literally software insanity. Meanwhile, this is maybe the 3rd time in less than a month.

Hi, same problem last 10 days (Windows 11), so i need to download/install new version manually every day and that's obviously is not ok, support team seems to me the worst one i've ever met - just ignoring. Maybe someone gets any solution?
Or similar app, as pay money and do not get any help it's frustrating

Why aren't the outdated versions on Mac updating automatically as normal? I've used Evernote for 13 years on my Mac, and now when I try to login, suddenly I have to search the forums to find out why I get the message "Client not supported." Then I discover that I probably have a non-updated software version, and must manually go to the web and downloaded the latest update. Why all this convoluted process all of a sudden??

Last year I got a new Windows 10 laptop. Without getting into details, after I had installed QB Pro 2021 and turned it on, it asked me to install Internet Explorer (IE) 11. Because of a configuration error from the laptop manufacturer, it was quite a feat to install IE 11. Nevertheless, I got it installed and my version of QB Pro worked.

I was getting ready to upgrade to Windows 11 when I remembered that problem. It turns out that IE will not be included but I can put Edge browser in IE compatibility mode. However, I really don't want to do that and want to use Edge in its "native" mode.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. However, that is not the issue I asked about. I have no interest in anything to do with updating or installing IE. I already stated that I did that last year and now I would like to know, as I mentioned in my post, whether or not "Intuit going to either REMOVE the dependency on IE (which is absolutely ridiculous to have that need for it to work) or are they going to make changes so that it will work with ANY browser?"

In QuickBooks Desktop, we still use Internet Explorer (IE) 11 (32-bit). We're aware that Microsoft has announced that it will no longer support this browser's updates. However, we'll continue using it until we receive updates from our engineers.

I appreciate your response. However, this changes things for me. I am not going to stop using Edge as it is a better browser than IE. So I will be looking at other solutions other than QB. I am still shocked and frustrated that Intuit will continue this vastly obsolete practice which in essence holds us hostage to not using the latest features from Microsoft, specifically Edge. I will not be using IE as my default browser.

Please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments if you have other concerns about data management and questions about using IE in QBDT. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success.

Now that microsoft has announced that ie is officially "dead", will we have alternatives to ie to use with QB Desktop or do we allow our software to be vulnerable to attacks through the non-supported avenue?

I am locked out of my QB Premier 2021 program. I've been trying ALL DAY to get help and I'm exactly nowhere. The final straw: I just hung up from QB so-called Support and they said since I have a standalone version of QB and not a paid support version, they won't help me. !!!

The message I'm getting when I try to open QB says IE is turned off on my computer. I did make IE inactive on my computer a while back because I never use it, and it's now useless for every other purpose in the world (not to mention highly insecure). But now -- it's GONE. Just GONE. I can't turn it back on because it disappeared. But even though it's past the date of "retirement" QB demands I use it. And now there's not a single place on earth (according to Microsoft) where I can reinstall it. So now what QuickBooks? A couple of questions:

I can't even access QB now to do anything, including update my software (in the desperate hope it will change something - anything - to get me out of this mess). I am FURIOUS. I should be able to access QB without a partner involvement. You can cozy up to MS all you want, but let me access my data!

If you're using an older version of QBDT and opt to continue using it, you'll need to have an IE installed on your computer for the system to run. With this, I'd recommend consulting an IT expert to do so.
