Older Ross-Tech RS-232 Serial interfaces can be set to power up as "dumb K-Line pass through" interfaces. This allowed those old Serial interfaces to be compatible with a wide variety of third-party applications which expect a "K-line pass-through" serial interface. However, our USB interfaces present additional challenges. Early in their development, we found a number of technical advantages to using a "direct" USB driver which bypasses the Windows Serial drivers entirely. Hence the USB drivers that ship with VCDS do not emulate a serial COM port and cannot be used with applications that expect to communicate via a serial port.
NOTE: The following applies to our legacy USB interfaces (HEX-USB, KII-USB and HEX-USB+CAN). It does NOT apply to our current HEX-V2 or HEX-NET interfaces. These new interfaces do not use a USB UART chip and cannot be be used for "dumb K-line pass-through"!
The library also provides proctoring for Northstar Digital Literacy assessments. Northstar Digital Literacy defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. Online, self-guided modules assess the ability of individuals to perform tasks based on these skills. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in three main areas: Essential Computer Skills, Essential Software Skills, and Using Technology in Daily Life.

Kyla Ross is the Assistant Vice Provost for Advocacy and Conflict Resolution and oversees the interpretation and enforcement of Georgia Tech policies and rules, as well as the grievances, complaints, and inquiries by administrators, faculty, staff, and students. She monitors trends in conflicts across the Institute and provides training opportunities that promote positive lab, work, and class environments. Ross was among the first class of doctoral students in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University. Upon completing her Ph.D., she served as a postdoctoral fellow in the NIH-funded Fellowships in Research and Science Teaching (FIRST) Program. She then joined the faculty at Georgia State University (GSU) in 2008 as the director of the anatomy and physiology program in the Department of Biology. She returned to Georgia Tech in 2016 as the Director of Graduate Training in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, where she developed and implemented ethics, teaching, and professional development training programs for faculty and graduate students. Ross is active in physiology education research and has been instrumental in transforming undergraduate physiology courses at GSU and Georgia Tech. She is in leadership in the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), a professional society dedicated to advancing anatomy and physiology education, and she mentors community college faculty on the NSF-funded Community College Anatomy & Physiology Education Research (CAPER) project. Ross is a trained facilitator for Entering Mentoring, an evidence-based, interactive mentor training curricula for faculty and students, and she has co-hosted faculty workshops on mentorship and lab culture. Along with her Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, Ross also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Louisiana State University.
Staff at the Circulation Desk are available to assist with checking out, requesting, and returning library books. We can help you locate books and other library resources including study aids, past exams, and reserves, as well as answer questions about library services. If you need a resource that is not available, we can help you to place an interlibrary loan request. The Circulation Desk is staffed Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. We also have a self-service checkout so you can borrow books at any time.
Simone Ross has been an active observer of the companies, individuals and ideas at the intersection of technology, the economy and society for over 20 years. She regularly advises companies on their content and conference strategy, specializing in designing programs and convening substantive conversations that connect the people and ideas at the intersection of tech and pretty much everything.
Viola was the sister of Ross's girlfriend. Douglas Birdsall had been the associate dean at the Texas Tech library. Ross shot both victims. Later the same day, a mountain biker came across the murder scene and found both Douglas's and Viola's bodies in a car.[5] DNA on a latex glove found in Birdsall's car and a sweatshirt Vaughn was wearing had blood of Douglas Birdsall; these were two things that linked Ross to the double murder.[5] In 2002, Ross was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to death by lethal injection by a jury.[6]

TEI researchers/designers are often discouraged from building complex interactive environments by the requirement of high technical knowledge. In this studio/workshop, we present the ROSS Toolkit that offers tools to abstract/automate low-level programming of technical details, thereby simplifying the design and programming of interactions between heterogeneous networked devices. Participants will be first introduced to the toolkit functionality to cope with different technical issues. In a second part, they will experiment with the toolkit by developing use cases of increasing complexity that will involve off-the-shelf devices, interactive surfaces, and custom-made tangible artifacts. We expect participants to learn what are the opportunities and challenges for the development of responsive and interactive environments.
The Library will purchase a limited number of print copies of the book for participants. The group is open to faculty and staff, and we strive to have cross-campus representation and may cap the group to limited number of participants, depending on interest.
The Library and Office of Research are hosting this reading group to foster an ongoing discussions on emerging forms of pedagogical and research practices. We will use the exercises outlined in Mindful Tech to encourage participants to reflect on the role of digital technologies in daily activities at the university.
