Description	Job Title                                            :           DBA Work Location                                 :           NJ Duration                                           :            1 year (contract to hire) Requirements: Enterprise database platform is Oracle 11g R1 on Red Hat Linux on Dell (x86) hardware.  In 2014, we plan to upgrade to 12c, possibly migrating to Oracle ODA. The successful candidate for this position will have experience with all aspects of our Oracle infrastructure, and an eagerness to learn.  Required technology knowledge includes operating systems (Linux), Oracle management (“DBA functions” including Data Guard, Grid Control/Enterprise Manager, SQL tuning) and server experience.  In addition, experience with other IT infrastructure is a big plus.  This includes storage and storage networks, Windows and Active Directory integration, security tools and others. This is a hands-on position; the ideal candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of follow through and execution on projects of all sizes and on all levels. Company has offices from California to London.  As such, off-hours work items can only be performed after 9PM ET (6PM PT) and before 3AM (ET).  This position often requires off-hours and weekend activity and support, both scheduled and as required.  When such off-hours work is required, there is flexibility to schedule alternative shifts.   Responsibilities: Database backups, restores and configurations to support testing exercises Review, test and deploy security best practices for Oracle technologies User IDs, passwords, roles and rights troubleshooting and support Assisting development groups with database administration in non-production environments Responding to production support calls   Requirements: Extensive, measurable hands-on expertise in all of the following is required: Red Hat Linux Oracle 11g and above (includes RMAN)   Other Technical Requirements: Knowledge of any or all of these technologies is preferred EMC VMax hardware / software NetApp hardware / software Dell OpenManage Software / Array Management software Windows Server 2008 or above Dell Server Hardware Active Directory Microsoft SCOM 2007 / 2012 Symantec NetBackup (7.0+) SQL Server 2005+ Intel server hardware (preferably Dell) and related internal and external storage hardware (RAID, SCSI, Fibre Channel, etc)   Other requirements: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred Minimum 4 years experience in IT Preferred experience in the financial services industry or other regulated environments Ability to work productively in time sensitive, “crisis situations” Very strong analytical skills Strong organizational skills Strong time management skills Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to master new and diverse technologies Well-versed in various IT topics Evidence of sustained commitment to incorporating best practices Demonstrated experience with maintaining documentation Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a team   The Firm: The company is a privately-owned Trust, global wealth management and investment advisory firm that focuses exclusively on high-net-worth families and their foundations and endowments.
