Sounds reasonable.
I don't know much about programming myself, but a proximity system sounds like it would be a little bit tough to implement. My feeling is that a player would have to be within, say, 10 meters for it not to count as a betrayal system. However, Halo has many levels where an intentional betrayal could be done on a floor right underneath an enemy; thus, the benefit of a proximity system is "cheated" so to speak.
Nevertheless, even if those cheats were present, it would still take care of the vast majority of the problem, I imagine.
(Of course, the obvious fix is for Halo players to only boot morons who had it coming and not people who betrayed on accident. In another world...)
Halo had over 5000 dialogue snippets in it - Halo 2 has 3 times that many. That doesn't stop dedicated fans from attempting to catalogue them all. Beginning on November 15, Captain Spark began sending in snippets from the game, collected with as little background noise as possible. As in the first game, we will accept submissions from anyone, with the same proviso we used for the Halo Dialogue Databank. And, as before, if someone submits a better version of an existing clip, we'll substitute it for the one we have - but the original submitter will retain credit. (This hasn't been a problem in the past - here's hoping it's not one in the future, either.) Subsections will be added as needed. Please mail submissions to halo...@bungie.org.
1. All submissions are given with the knowledge that the clips are freely available for use in any OTHER fan creation - barring those that violate Bungie's copyrights, of course. If a submitter wants to limit how his clips can be used by others, we actually don't want them in the database. Submitters get full credit for extracting the sounds from the game - but relinquish all rights to the clips past that. This disclaimer is being added solely because we don't want fights to break out if a submitter isn't happy with the way his clip is used by another site visitor submitting, say, a Flash animation. If you think you will have trouble accepting the fact that others are using the clips to make fan creations for the community - don't submit.
Necropanther are a Denver-based melodeath band from Denver that continue their upward trend on Betrayal. The group has successfully boiled all doom influences that occasionally inhabit melodeath out of their sound. Mostly What you heard is much closer to early Dark Tranquility or At The Gates than something like Insomnium.
Outside of the guitars, all of the other performances sound fine. The drummer plays out of his mind at times, but this ends up fading in the background most of the time as an aspect of the music that works so well I hardly notice it. Same with the bass, which is vital given the production choices of the band, but which often stands behind the guitars. The vocals get a bit eyebrow-raising at times, especially near the end of the record, but ultimately the relatively high and jagged screams end up working quite well.
'Vadum, originally 'Vadumee before the Covenant Civil War, is a veteran Covenant Elite and the second most prominent Elite character in the series after the Arbiter. He carries the Covenant rank of Shipmaster. The Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor explains how he loses his left mandibles; he is injured after fighting one of his friends, who was infected by the Flood.[48] During the early events of Halo 2, 'Vadumee serves as a messenger between the Hierarchs and the Elite Council, as he is seen relaying messages between the two parties in the Prophets' chamber.[49] Surviving the Prophets' betrayal, 'Vadumee joins his brethren in fighting the Brutes, dropping the "-ee" suffix from his surname to symbolize his resignation from the Covenant. 'Vadum aids the Arbiter in attacking a Brute base to capture a Scarab before departing to take control of a nearby Covenant ship.
In Halo: Last Light, Castor is now the leader or Dokab of the Keepers of the One Freedom Covenant splinter faction. After learning of the presence of a Forerunner AI on the human colony of Gao, Castor launches an attack, aided by the Minister of Protection Arlo Casille who uses the opportunity to launch a coup d'état and overthrow his own government. Castor is eventually mortally wounded during the battle, but the Huragok Roams Alone heals his injuries. Castor decides to let Roams Alone leave and vows revenge upon Casille for his betrayal.
Bungie originally wanted Guilty Spark to sound similar to the robot C-3PO.[60] Dadabo noted in an interview that reactions to his character have been hostile, finding Spark highly annoying.[6] He described Spark's character as a "bastard" who strings others along in order to accomplish his ends.[60] An annual Halloween pumpkin carving contest named 343 Guilt O'Lantern is organized by Halo.Bungie.Org; both the contest's title and logo use the character's design and name as inspiration.[61] Gaming site GameDaily listed Guilty Spark as one of the top "evil masterminds" of video games, stating "If HAL-9000 had any distant relatives, [Guilty Spark would] be closest of kin."[62]
Or the Chancer. The guilt stung in his gut, even now. Some sacrifices were more painful than others. After all the betrayals he'd made, this tiny double-cross meant little to him. It wasn't even a double-cross, not really. If, against all odds, Jul survived Halsey's rescue then he would simply turn his attention to Shinsu and give the Kru'desh time to make new plans.
He looked back up at Stray. "You will pretend to go along with his scheme. Your reconnaissance mission to Talitsa will be carried out as planned. Use that as an excuse to delay him. I will not sow further confusion in the ranks by making his betrayal public. At least not yet. In the event that he does make his move, I may have to simply let him flee. I cannot afford more dissension. Not anymore."
"We had quite a good run together, him and I." If the impending betrayal bothered Diana, her voice didn't show it. "But, fun as it's been, I need to get serious about who I partner with. Once the Reclamation starts, I won't have time to deal with his shortcomings anymore."
Still, things could always be worse. Ever since the Covenant task force had touched down on Kamchatka they had been beset on all sides by Promethean machines. The Prometheans seemed hell-bent on defending this complex; it had cost the Covenant dearly to secure it, an achievement only serving to make the strange machines fight harder. Even now the task force was fighting to push back against the Prometheans in the snowy wastes beyond the complex. Umbra was grateful to be far from what sounded like a losing battle. The Covenant was being pushed back on nearly all fronts; it was only a matter of time before this complex fell.
Something hard struck his leg and Umbra desperately wrapped his arm around a protruding rock. The protrusion miraculously held his weight and left Umbra, breathless and terrified, suspended against the cliff. He held on for dear life, hearts pounding so hard within his chest that he was sure they would burst. He didn't know how long he hung there, struggling to calm himself. He could no longer hear the sounds of battle above him.
But then Joshua's face morphed and twisted, assuming the sunken, sullen visage of Simon-G294. The Spartan traitor who had committed the ultimate betrayal and joined the Covenant, leading the Kru'desh legion in service of Jul 'Mdama's cause. He had killed other Spartans before, even the Gammas who were supposed to be closer knit than family. He had probably led the attack that killed Joshua as well.
His voice trailed off as the rest of the sentence burned in his throat. His hollow words rang in his ears, sounding unbearably pathetic. No amount of threats or grandiose claims would get him into the command center. And even if he did, Shinsu was more likely to kill him than offer any sort of help. This groveling farce was as pointless as it was humiliating.
Stray let out a guttural sound and tried to get up but fell quickly back to the ground as if shoved by an invisible hand. The Sangheili observed the stricken Spartan with concern, though none of them moved to help him.
The armored figure passed its gaze over the room for a moment, featureless helmet daring anyone to continue the fight. When none stepped forward, the figure turned away without a sound. Its blade disappeared and it approached the core at the center of the room with the same confident stride as before.
