ASU is hosting a Maker Summit in October, and there are multiple opportunities for you to participate (see below). Here is a general overview - please feel free to share with others.

Join us on October 23-24 for a national Higher Education Maker Summit. The event, which is a partnership among Arizona State University, the White House Office of Science and Technology PolicySTEM Connector and other valued leaders, will bring together representatives from informal and formal education – as well as acclaimed innovators and pioneers in the maker movement – for a two-day discussion on the future of making in education, the impact of making on communities and the development of vibrant maker ecosystems.

Here in the Valley, we enjoy a thriving maker ecosystem that encourages creativity, experimentation and collaboration: an ecosystem that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, job creation and meaningful employment. National participants are eager to learn about the local policies, programs, relationships and structures that foster such innovation and economic vitality. We would like to invite you, a valued member of the greater Phoenix maker community, to share your experience and connect with a wide variety of passionate individuals committed to the maker movement.

There are several opportunities for participation in the Maker Summit:

1.   Register to attend the entire summit here and enjoy a 50% discount by using the code Summit50. Notable keynotes include Dale Dougherty, the CEO and President of Maker Media, Mark Hatch, the co-founder and CEO of TechShop, and multiple TED Fellows.

2.    Attend the Maker Mixer and Expo on Thursday, October 23rd from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while you network with conference attendees and other community members involved in the maker movement. There is no charge for this event.

3.    Attend the Maker Mixer and Expo and host a booth to highlight your work within the maker movement. Register to host a booth, so you can showcase the wonderful work that you are doing here in the community. To host a booth, click here and choose Conference Sponsor from the drop-down menu. Enter Sponsor50 as the discount code (there is a $95 fee for exhibits) and complete the registration.

We are excited to bring together a diverse community of makers and hope to see you participate in the summit this October. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. For more information, visit entrepreneurship.asu.edu/makersummit.
