I just spotted that I've got a Win 11 insider preview update with the Pending restart status in my updates which I really don't want.

I've opted out of the Insider Program(only needed it for WSL2 anyway) but is there anyway to cancel the pending update and not just pause it for 7 days?

But you still have windows11, so you need to do a clean installation of windows10 because there is no other option to go back to Windows10.

And since Windows 11 is on your device it will automatically download updates.

Since this is a big error of the Update service, if it provides a Windows11 update for devices that are not enrolled in the Insider Program - it would really be helpful to report it to the Feedback Center for Windows in the Windows Updates tab!

I have an instance of windows server 2019 base running on aws and would like to install the windows server insider preview. Updating the settings for windows update in group policy editor did not bring up the insider settings tab so I opted to install from iso. The install started successfully and closed the rdp window due to a restart. However, I am not able to connect to the instance afterwards even after waiting for the cpu activity to settle for a while in the ec2 dashboard. The "keep my data and settings" option was grayed out, not sure if that had any impact on the final result. Could this be an issue with the install resetting rdp to disabled? If so, is enabling rdp through remote registry the only way to fix this?

This build, for those with Windows 11 version 24H2, gradually rolls out a wide variety of new features, including pinning apps to the taskbar by dragging and dropping items directly to taskbar from the pinned section in the Start menu, using your mouse to drag files between breadcrumbs in the File Explorer address bar, and directly sharing to specific Microsoft Teams channels and group chats in the Windows share window.

This build introduces the ability to duplicate a tab by right-clicking it in File Explorer. In addition, if you use the netsh wlan show networks command, you should be able to read SSIDs that are UTF-8 encoded. This means that Wi-Fi SSIDs with Unicode characters (like emojis) should be properly displayed in netsh output. This change is just beginning to roll out, so not all Insiders in the Canary Channel will see it right away.

If you are signed into Windows with your Microsoft account, you will be able to view files that have been shared with your account, such as email, Teams chat, etc. If you are a commercial customer who is signed in with your Microsoft Entra ID account, you will additionally be able to view files that they have shared with others. You can access this feature by launching File Explorer Home and clicking on the Shared tab item.

In addition, those in the Beta Channel who have turned the toggle on to receive the latest updates can access Studio Effects in Quick Settings from the system tray of the taskbar. Note that this is being gradually rolled out and so is not yet available to everyone.
