N-Gage Service (also called as "N-Gage 2.0" or "N-Gage Next Generation") was Nokia's mobile gaming service, that was available for several Nokia phones running on Symbian OS (including N series and other S60v3 devices). It was developed by Nokia Corporation on 4 February 2008. The service was a successor of the original N-Gage device with great graphics (2D & 3D), great sound and gameplay. There are games with multiplayer via Bluetooth and via the N-Gage Arena (via the Internet). We can't play through the Arena, because the service is closed. N-Gage 2.0 launcher is installed as a regular .sisx application, and games for it in .n-gage format are installed and run through this application. It was never released in Japan and Korea.

The closure of the platform was Nokia announced that no new N-Gage 2.0 games would be produced, effectively shutting down the N-Gage 2.0 platform on 30 October 2009, at the end of 2010, All N-Gage services and the N-Gage Arena servers (online multiplayer, synchronization of achievements, chat) were stopped, and on 31 March 2011, the service was finally closed, stopping the game activation server, so purchased Games can no longer be activated after formatting the device memory.

N-Gage 2.0 was a mobile games service by Nokia. Available in compatible Nokia N-Series and other S60v3 mobile phones (Symbian OS 9.1-9.3) from Nokia, although it was also (officially) implemented on a single S60v5 mobile, the Nokia N97, (and unofficially on other phones, such as the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, which used touch wrappers because it didn't have buttons and 5230 Xpress Music).

BodyZ's classic build (all-in-one) for smartphones based on Symbian 9.2-9.3 (S60v3.1-3.2) with any screen resolution based on N-Gage 1.40.1557. Keep in mind that on non-standard resolutions, not all games go to the full screen and there's nothing to be done about it. It is intended for both officially supported smartphones, and for unsupported ones.

2) All language files are left, but localization files are installed only for those languages that are available as system interface languages on the current software version of the device itself. That is, if the system has only English, French and Spanish languages, then only English, French and Spanish files will be installed. Russian, Chinese, German and others will not be installed. Initially BodyZ wanted to make installation only of language files for the current active interface language. But they had to abandon this idea because it turned out that the application "knows" the list of all languages for which it has localization. And if you do this and install the application with the English interface, then when you switch to the French interface, the application will stop running, as it will look for resources for the French language that will not be installed;

3) Surprisingly, this version have hidden support for landscape screen mode for application itself. But it was intended for devices with 240x320 screens with autorotation feature. Therefore, on devices with 320x240 screens softkeys placeholder are still on the right side of the screen. But, at least all application now fits in screen. This have no effect on games. If game didn't run properly in earlier versions of app, it will not now;

5) For unknown reason default configuration file for N82 doesn't have support for landscape orientation at all, so you could only play games in portrait mode which is a shame if you would like to play COTD. In BodyZ's previous builds BodyZ fixed that by installing for N82 the same profile as for unsupported officially models. In that way you get your "Device rotation" options in games, but you lose ability to control some games (updated version of Bounce Boing Voyage, Powerboat Challenge) by accelerometer. So, finally, in this build I was able to edit default N82 configuration file to add support for "Device rotation", so you don't have to sacrifice anything anymore;

13) Automatically will install to device memory (C:/) like official installer. And you will not have to manually accept installation of each component, that are pretty much here. If you like accepting installation of each and every component and want to install N-Gage to memory card or mass storage, than extract "D:\private\2000a2ae\n-gage.sisx" from this package by SisEditor on device or SISContents on PC and run it's installation;

- On the "Games" tab, in addition to the "More games" button, a button "Install games from a PC" also appeared (it was not successfully localized, of course, it meant installing N-Gage games using a PC), where a couple of words describe how to install N-Gage and download games using your PC to your smartphone;- Finally, if you go to your profile on an absolutely clean device, then the total number of NGPs will be pulled up from the N-Gage Arena. In the profiles of the games themselves, the received NGPs are not restored, only the total number of them received for this game is displayed on the arena tab;

- You can no longer choose which drive to install the game on during the installation of games, instead, the default drive is E: / in the settings, so all games are immediately installed on the card / drive without prompting. You can select a different drive (C: / and F: /) if you want. If there is not enough memory on the selected disk for automatic installation, then when you try to install the game, the application will warn you about this and prompt you to choose where to install the game;

As it turned out, version 1.40.1557 introduced support for resolutions other than 240x320 for the N-Gage application itself, namely 640x360 and 640x480, and orientations other than portrait, as well as partial support for touch input in the application itself. In terms of permissions and touch input, everything is in its infancy and does not work properly, but in terms of support for landscape orientation for a resolution of 240x320, everything is done quite well. Therefore, this is the only version that looks tolerable on devices with a horizontally oriented screen. Only the softkeys on the right, as if on a device with a portrait-oriented screen rotated to landscape orientation. Yes, and unfortunately, the application did not learn to automatically change the orientation following the system, so for devices with a port-oriented screen, this does not work.

For example, on the E90, when the internal screen is open (800x352), the application version 1.2x.xxxxx does not start with the "System error" window, while if you close the internal screen and switch to the external one (240x320), then everything starts without problems and works fine after switching to the inner screen. At the same time, versions below 1.10.1345, as well as version 1.40.1557 on the same E90, are launched without problems from any screen.

I highly recommend installing the N-Gage app to your phone's memory. With it, the application starts faster and works more stable, because initially, it was designed to work only from the phone's memory (the official version of N-Gage is automatically installed into the phone's memory without the option of choosing). Also, game saves and all data from N-Gage will still be in the phone's memory, even if the application itself and games are installed on a memory card.

We copy games (.n-gage file) (copy it exactly, because after installing the game, the original .n-gage file is deleted) a folder in E: / n-gage / or C: / Data / n-gage /After that, go to N-Gage and install. N-Gage version 1.40.1557 automatically installs games on the memory card (you can change it to another drive in the settings in the settings) without asking for the installation location by default. Versions below give the opportunity to choose at the time of installation (phone, memory card, storage). Also on devices based on S60v3.2 (Symbian 9.3), you can simply click on the .n-gage file in the standard file manager and some third-party ones (unfortunately, X-plore is not among them) and N-Gage will automatically start and start installation. At the same time, the original file (.n-gage) will also be deleted at the end of the installation, as in the method with copying to the E: / n-gage / or C: / Data / n-gage / folder.

On devices with a screen resolution below 240x320, when installing games, a dialog with a choice on which disk to install the game simply does not fit on the screen. Clicking on OK will continue installation to the phone memory. But since the phone memory on those 3250 and N91 is very small (10 and 15 MB, respectively), BodyZ would like to be able to install games on the E: / drive. As it turned out, it is quite logical to press down, and then OK in the dialog with the choice of where to install games, all the same continues to install games in the phone's memory, which in most cases will only cause the error "Memory full. Please select another type of memory". It turned out that you need to press UP, and then OK, and not down, which is especially interesting considering that on devices with a 240x320 screen, you can see that the cursor in this dialog has a circular scrolling.

If you accidentally installed the game in the phone's memory and want to reinstall it on a memory card or drive, then just copy the game file again to the E: / n-gage / or C: / Data / n-gage / folder and go to N-Gage, to reinstall the game to the desired memory. As soon as N-Gage finds a .n-gage file in the E: / n-gage / or C: / Data / n-gage / folder for an already installed game, it will automatically uninstall the installed game without removing progress from it. In this case, the game in the list will become "gray", as if we are just installing it for the first time.

We don't worry about N-Gage Points in N-Gage when deleting games, they remain in the player's profile and if you install the game back, they will be in place in the application. But the save from the games will be deleted. In some games, N-Gage Points are also duplicated in the game itself, but since this information is stored in the game save, it will be erased when the game is deleted. That is, all NGP received will remain in the N-Gage application if the game is completely uninstalled and installed again, but in the game itself, if there is a menu with NGP there, it will not.
