Hi, there!
I'm a brazilian psychologist interested in argunet.
I've installed the software on my desktop without any problems but
when I tried to run another copy of it on my notebook I received the
following message:

JVM terminated. Exit code=13
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.06/jre/bin/java
-jar /home/clrossi/Argunet/plugins/
org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.0.v20070606.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-showsplash
-launcher /home/clrossi/Argunet/Argunet
-name Argunet
--launcher.library /home/clrossi/Argunet/plugins/
org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_1.0.0.v20070606/
eclipse_1017a.so
-startup /home/clrossi/Argunet/plugins/
org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.0.v20070606.jar
-exitdata 53801f
-vm /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.06/jre/bin/java
-vmargs
-jar /home/clrossi/Argunet/plugins/
org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.0.v20070606.jar

I'm using a Ubuntu distro running on a HP notebook, with a AMD64
TURION cpu.

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Claudio

hey!
there are some known problems with different jre versions. But I am myself using Argunet on an Ubuntu notebook without any problems, so it is definitely possible.
As far as we know, Argunet requires the JRE by Sun.

You can check your java version if you open a terminal and type this command:
java -version

Here is a post on how to install the sun jre:
http://daveshields.wordpress.com/2007/09/14/how-to-install-a-specific-version-of-java-on-ubuntu/

If you want to try out several different jre versions or use different jres for different programs you can use debian's update-alternatives. Here is a post about it:
http://blog.stevenkroon.com/2006/08/29/debian-update-alternatives/

Please tell us if you succeeded.

Problem solved!
I was using a Sun 64 bits JRE but I changed to a 32 bits version,
using debian's update-alternatives, and everything is working just
fine.
Thank you Christian!

Claudio

P.S. I don't know but maybe the problem was that the 32 bits version
of Argunet was, somehow, incompatible with the 64 bits version of the
Sun JRE I had installed on my system.

This is partly our fault, we should have written on the download page that the linux version is for 32 bit systems. I will add this information to the page as soon as possible.

If there is demand for a 64 bit version of Argunet, we could make that available with the next release.
greetings,
christian

A 64 bit version of Argunet would be a good idea.
I think I can use Argunet when preparing and writing psychology
essays.
Thank you again
