Mail Server 2.0.1.0 does not accept new license

Good morning!

I just extended my support and upgraded my server, but it's not retaining the new license.

Repro Steps
  1. Launch Argosoft Mail Server Controller
  2. Click Help -> Check for updates. I get this message: Screenshot 2022-05-18 110453.png
  3. Click Close
  4. Click Help -> Register Screenshot 2022-05-18 111252.png
  5. Paste the new key into the text box and click Test  Screenshot 2022-05-18 111559.png
  6. Click Apply
  7. Click OK
  8. Close the Argosoft Mail Server Controller
  9. Stop the Argosoft Mail Server Mailer Services service
  10. Start the Argosoft Mail Server Mailer Services service
  11. Launch Argosoft Mail Server Controller
  12. Click Help -> Register
Expected
  • To see the new expiration date of 5/18/23
Actual
  • Expiration is still 2/4/22
What can I do to fix this and get my mail working again?

Have you tried to stop the server, and start it again?

While it is running, it is still using old license.

Yep. I stop and started the service.

The first time through the Mail Server Controller and the second time through the Services control panel applet.

Even tried running the Mail Server Controller as administrator to see if that made a difference. It didn't.

Yes, I did and I replied.  I just noticed you used Gmail.  See your SPAM folder.

The idea is - reboot your computer.  Possibly the service still remains running even when you stop it.  Your key worked fine for me.

If it still does not work, then give me some kind of RDP access to it.  I am sure we are missing something simple there.

I figured it out.

You need to stop the ArGoSoft Mail Server Mail Services service (ArGoSoft MailServerNet) before applying the new license key.

Once the new license is applied, start the service back up.

Thank you, Archie, for pointing me to C:\ProgramData\ArGoSoft\MailServer.Net\Settings.xml file, that was the key to figuring out what was going on.
