Hi,

I have to run ArGoSoft Mail Server in a secure way and I have already generated a Certificate Signing Request and attached a private key (.key) and a certificate (.csr), which I have to send to a certificate authority. I usually get SSL certificates from https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl-certificates/, but I use those certificates for websites. Do I need the similar SSL certificates for ArGoSoft Mail Server or any other way to achieve this?

Thank you in advance!

Please help.

Kind regards,
DP

Hi DP,

You will need the certificate, similar to the one you are using on your web server.  You even can use the same certificate you are using on your web server.

But, if you do not certificate which covers all subdomains of you domain name, then you may want to use a certificate for subdomain that points to your server.

For example, you have your server on mail.yourdomain.com, then get a certificate for mail.yourdomain.com, don't use one you have to www.yourdomain.com.  It WILL work, but some servers which are talking to you may not like it.

In all cases, import your certificate into the certificate store and then point to it from your mail server, from Security - Server Certificate.
