Must be some time travelling going on - just received the FAQ with a date
of 12th February 2020.

Us oldies can do *anything*!

The FAQs for this and the other Argonet groups that Bill posted today
appear to be posted correctly, but I can see a couple dated 2020 - one
the 1st January, the other 12th February.

Picking the latter one, because that's the one you mentioned, and
examining its headers, it looks as though it was posted on 12th
February, 2018 (going by the Path line) - but its date is indeed set as
12th February, 2020.

This is probably to do with what Bill said in his latest post in the
"Hello" thread (message <57e67be...@billsimpson.com>) - the FAQs
were being posted up until the battery in his RiscPC failed; the clock
would have been going awry as a symptom of that.

back in the in-tray almost immediately.

Something not quite correct here - my apologies. I'll
have a further prod(s) and see if a fault has developed,
or a hitch along the way. (Of course, as I post this,
they'll all suddenly turn up - par for the course)..

For interest, a few days ago I mentioned your pet tarantula
Spidz of long ago, as a master web-builder, in one of our
Acorn groups.. (discussion between yourself and Dave).

No-one commented - not surprising - but the lack of any note
did make me wonder if the comment hadn't made it through the
electronic blanket..

I'll have a word with Richard (Genesys/Orpheus) and check
if he's aware of anything. Either that or, from tonights
experience, these latest editions of !Organizer are no
longer autoposting. (It's the same proggies that you
developed in ..um ..years and years ago ..no date here,
but have continued to give flawlessly stirling service.

By the way - and both a Hi There! and apologies to Jonathan

This may be a problem either with your news fetcher, or with your news
client. The (ancient!) FAQ posting program is clearly still working fine
- the FAQs appeared in my feed again as a result of your tickling it.

(It looks as though you posted them shortly after 9pm yesterday evening.)

Remember: All that program does is put a copy of the FAQs in your
outgoing usenet queue, with the appropriate headers. All other tasks
beyond that (sending, re-fetching, etc) is handled by the other software
you use - which I can see are NewsHound for transfers, and Pluto as for
reading.

So if there is a problem, I'd look in their direction.

(I have a vague recollection, for example, that Pluto can 'hide'
messages it thinks are from its user - though I don't know if it does
that by comparing message IDs with its database, or simply by looking at
the email address.)

I don't always keep up to date with usenet, and often skip
posts/threads, so I can't say if I saw it or not. Judging by my sent
news folder, I can only see two recent threads in which either I've
replied to Dave, or he to me (or both) - and looking on the Google
archive, I can't see a post from you in either:

"VRPC and WinClip" on comp.sys.acorn.apps:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.sys.acorn.apps/j2o5QpcakBw

Or:

"Bristol RISC OS Users meeting - 10th July" on comp.sys.acorn.misc:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.sys.acorn.misc/JVs-BLx9PIM

But it could be that, for whatever reason, your posts simply aren't
appearing in Google's archive.

Hmm... looks in this group via Google... you *are* turning up there.

That comp.sys.acorn.* post may have gone astray, then.

When I wrote the Autoposter, I probably used it in conjunction with
Alarm rather than Organizer - but as long as Organizer supports a 'task
alarm' (which I believe it does), it should be fine.

And as I've said, your FAQ posts yesterday evening and the other day
*did* appear here - both in this group, and the other Argonet groups to
which I am apparently still subscribed.

argonet.acorn.misc strikes me as being a suitable alternative for this
discussion, if need be.

Yup..! :))

..much the same conclusion..

..and thanks for the (many) heads up and references, Vince -
I'll rummage around with your various ideas and see what I
can turn up.

Um ..I've already answered a little in the 'Hello' thread above;
it does make me wonder even more about !Voyager and 'task alarm' -
I'll have a look in a bit - it's possible that something fixable
was lost in translation between one of !Oranizer's iterations
and the next.

Enjoy your break, if you're getting one - and don't try to
buy Greenland - apparently it's already been booked ..by
Trump, Scotland, or both...

best wishes.. :))

They also appeared here to but then I suppose that's the nature of news
rather than email lists. One they are on the news server they are
available to all.
