I'm unable to collect any of my newsgroup messages.

For a couple of weeks now, whenever I try to connect, my machine
completely hangs until I do an ALT-BREAK and kill off the news
fetcher.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

For reference, I'm using the standard !Voyager to connect and retrive
both news and email, but reading it using !Pluto.

I've had no problems collecting emails or using the web, just
accessing the newsgroups - both argos and elsewhere.

I've only just discovered that the argo groups can be accessed from
Google groups, hence this somewhat late posting.

RPC600/SA with RO4.27

TIA

Dave

As he's accessing the groups via Google, may I suggest anybody with
any advice to send to Dave does so by email unless you are posting here
via a non-pipex news-server as the pipex server is not propagating news
out to anywhere else ATM so he won't see it.

Unfortunately I can't remember if there's a way of seeing NNTPfetch's
communication with the server.

I'll post this in via Freeserve and switch the no-archiving off so
he'll see this with the quoted reply above on Google.

Suggestions - the later ones possibly of no use at all:

1) Phone Argo support.

If you feel like having a play in the mean time ...

2) Try unsubscribing from all the groups in Pluto. Then resubscribe and
try again.

3) Open up !Voyager.Apps.Transports.!NNTPfetch.HistoryDir and clean out
the history files.

Don't know much about !NNTPfetch, so you follow my advice at your own
risk ... though option 1 should be fairly safe. ;-)

Oh ...

4) If you have a backup (of course you have a backup ...), try replacing
the !NNTPfetch in your working copy with the one from the backup.
