autocompletion for dev

I wonder what's the steps to have autocompletion work for dev environments?

I installed argcomplete 0.6.3 and ran register-python-argcomplete (all
of this from a virtualenv), but completion doesn't seem to work (when
working from that virtualenv).

Does this even work?
