My dearest friends, 
Because this charity event we put together means the world to me, I wanted to email you all in person and let u know about it. Every penny u spend on this event will go towards helping torture survivor refugee children get help and support through creating music and writing songs. And we will be having a pre-ramadan fesat at Round Chapel with them in a time where most dont have their families around. and the best part is there will be incredible music and delicious foor on offer.

FRIDAY 3rd MAY - Folk of The World

Folk of the World celebrates the beauty, richness and diversity of music from refugee cultures and raises awareness of the challenges refugees and asylum seekers face in the UK.

In association with Music Action International, Continental Drifts and Folk of The World  at London's iconic Round Chapel; the night will feature outstanding artists who are also refugees, delicious Yemeni food and a celebration of cultures from across the world. All profits will be donated to Music Action International, an organisation facilitating creative programmes and performanceswith people affected by war, torture and persecution, to overcome trauma and bring people together for beautiful experiences through music 


Throughout the course of history Global Hubs like London have been defined, shaped and moulded by a myriad of ethnicities constantly adding ingredients to their cultural and musical melting pots. Here we explore The Next Wave - The Latest Sounds of the London Underground.

Native Sun is a London based band consisting of bilingual rapper and refugee Mohammed Yahya, born in Mozambique, South East Africa and singer-song writer Sarina Leah born in London with Caribbean roots.

Joining forces in 2010 Native Sun was born fusing Hip Hop and African rhythms with the aim of promoting a positive message of Universal Peace, Equality, Social Justice and Environmental Change.


Both artists over the years have received a great deal of publicity through collaborations on a variety of compilation CDs, Albums, International Tours across Europe, Africa and U.S, features of on a wide range of publications  as well as TV appearances from UK based TV Channels such as BBC and ITV to Channels across Europe.

Now together, Native Sun's sweet melodies fuse addictive head bouncing Hip Hop undertones, conscious bilingual lyrics and catchy hooks perfect for a climate in need of an uplifting message.



Mohammed Yahya is a creative facilitator with Music Action International and uses his passion and talent to create new music with children and young refugees, inspiring the next generation. 

Support by young refugees & artists creating music with Music Action International

Music Action International's programme Everyday People supports young people newly arrived from conflict areas. Teenage refugees often arrive in the UK alone, without any family or friends, having survived armed conflict and endured a horrific and dangerous journey to get here. Therapeutic, creative music sessions provide relief from daily stresses caused by traumatic experiences, and create newfriendships between young people.

The night will also feature delicious food cooked by Refugee cooks. Our aim is to celebrate all things delicious brought to our tables by all cultures so do come hungry :)
