Hello all
As some of you might have heard already, our landlord has proposed an excessive extension of Unit M which will have significant impact on our lifestyle, environment and future. Sadly we were only notified of this proposal through an official letter from the Council a couple of weeks ago, leaving us with only a few days to support or object - the official deadline was yesterday but speaking to the Council we are encouraged to submit until the 10th of this month latest.
Various people have already vocalised their concerns in two meetings which took place on the 27 and 30 October. Concerns are around:
- Principle – If you feel that the community has not been consulted and that the very nature of the proposal is inappropriate for example that the use of land/property should not change.
- Overlooking – The proposal would lead to previously private areas being overlooked.
- Overshadowing – The height or closeness of the development would be such that unreasonable overshadowing of other units would occur.
- Disturbance – There would be unacceptable intrusion in the form of noise nuisance, general disturbance, odour, etc.
- Overbearing – The scale of the works means that the property/premises has an oppressive impact on surrounding areas/houses.
- Out-of-character – If the design of the development, its scale and use, is such that it appears to be out-of character with its surroundings.
- Road Safety – The development may lead to a significant impact upon road safety.
You can find all information and plans of this project on Haringey Council's website:
Please also use the link above to object if you feel that this extension will open doors to further redevelopment, rent increases, evictions, and a change of the very nature of our community. Redevelopments an improvements are needed but they should not take place according to a masterplan without the consultation of current residents.
To make things easier we have drafted a letter - attached here - which you can use as a template for your own objection. Please please please, only submit valid and reasonable objections.
Thank you
Petra
