In this paper, we present a deep learning processing flow aimed at Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADASs) for urban road users. We use a fine analysis of the optical setup of a fisheye camera and present a detailed procedure to obtain Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) coordinates along with the speed of the moving objects. The camera to world transform incorporates the lens distortion function. YOLOv4, re-trained with ortho-photographic fisheye images, provides road user detection. All the information extracted from the image by our system represents a small payload and can easily be broadcast to the road users. The results show that our system is able to properly classify and localize the detected objects in real time, even in low-light-illumination conditions. For an effective observation area of 20 m 50 m, the error of the localization is in the order of one meter. Although an estimation of the velocities of the detected objects is carried out by offline processing with the FlowNet2 algorithm, the accuracy is quite good, with an error below one meter per second for urban speed range (0 to 15 m/s). Moreover, the almost ortho-photographic configuration of the imaging system ensures that the anonymity of all street users is guaranteed.

Reinforcement learning (RL) has been shown to be effective at learning control from experience. However, RL typically requires a large amount of online interaction with the environment. This limits its applicability to real-world settings, such as in robotics, where such interaction is expensive. In this work we investigate ways to minimize online interactions in a target task, by reusing a suboptimal policy we might have access to, for example from training on related prior tasks, or in simulation. To this end, we develop two RL algorithms that can speed up training by using not only the action distributions of teacher policies, but also data collected by such policies on the task at hand. We conduct a thorough experimental study of how to use suboptimal teachers on a challenging robotic manipulation benchmark on vision-based stacking with diverse objects. We compare our methods to offline, online, offline-to-online, and kickstarting RL algorithms. By doing so, we find that training on data from both the teacher and student, enables the best performance for limited data budgets. We examine how to best allocate a limited data budget -- on the target task -- between the teacher and the student policy, and report experiments using varying budgets, two teachers with different degrees of suboptimality, and five stacking tasks that require a diverse set of behaviors. Our analysis, both in simulation and in the real world, shows that our approach is the best across data budgets, while standard offline RL from teacher rollouts is surprisingly effective when enough data is given.

For me I wish they would focus more on speed of data entry. It can be really clunky for crews esp compared to our old forms. An all new modern system needs to be faster and easier otherwise why replace it. 123 is old enough now that the clunky beta days need to be polished. Focus on the core vs all these new shiny toys. Building a whole fancy UI would prob slow down the functionality advances and I do not really need it. I believe some more real world Field worker experience on the team would help a lot. I think more real world could help Esri in general vs more academics hires.

There's almost one new created airline every week, one new aircraft delivered every day, updating the - offline - database of that program occurs on a daily basis, weekly at longest, and I still need internet for that ! So, the day I may release that application would never come before I die. Just to pick an example, the application is developped as a Windows Forms interface. There's a better interface provided by the dotNet Framework called WPF. Upgrading the application to this new architecture would be a must before releasing it, and I have no time to do that. The database weight several Gigabytes (as expected : Maps and graphics...)

This article develops an optimal predictive power management strategy (OP-PMS) for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to manage the remaining battery level throughout a defined journey. Apart from using the battery before charging it again at the destination, this approach also supports transit through an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), where a PHEV needs to operate in pure electric mode to avoid emissions. This type of PHEV power management strategy (PMS) design problem is a noncausal control problem, where the power demand of the remaining driving cycle and the final battery energy level targets influence the current power management action. Rather than solving the whole optimization problem online, this article presents a simplification that leads to a closed-form analytic solution with parameters that can be computed offline. This article makes three key contributions. First, a novel input-linearization method is developed, which converts the OP-PMS into a convex quadratic programming (QP) problem that captures the essential model nonlinearities using an input transformation and a quadratic cost function. Second, the influence of future power demands and final targets on current energy management policy is explicitly quantified from a dynamic optimal control perspective. Third, the noncausal convex QP is approximated with a closed-form analytic solution that is calculated offline. This leads to a real-time implementable OP-PMS with coefficients that can be precalculated and stored in the engine control unit. To demonstrate the viability of this approach, numerical examples are provided based on a generic PHEV model to verify the efficacy of the proposed OP-PMS.

dotSUB offers one great convenience for translating: you can see the original English text and your translated text at the same time, one under the other. To efficiently translate in an offline environment you need some similar setup. The closest to that, is to keep your original and your translated file in two separate windows lined up next to each other, while you scrolling is synchronized among them.
