Hi Pirate Developers,

I've just updated the CLI.pde in the Dev_trunk, the CLI now has two more options for camera Smooth 'f', and for camera shutter 'g';  these condig values as are now stored in the EEPROM, you canno access them unless you have xBee; so while we wait for the GCS to show up, we can now use the CLI to config the camera.

Please can anyone re-test it, to see if I'm not missing anything...  then if it's Ok, I can update the trunk CLI. (as the wiki CLI page is already updated)  ;-)

Thanks!

Dani

Nice idea Dani, and thanks for the wiki's update! ;-)

It seems that the new CLI commands are not the same as those used with
Hein's PID enjin, wouldn't be better if they are the same?

Another though: I see the difference between setting up the camera
smoothing with tose new commands and tuning the PID with Hein's enjin,
I just hope it will not be too confusioning for users.

Well, I can change it to whatever is best, if you can give me a small explanation on how Hein's enjin works (I have no clue), I can adapt the CLI.

It's what I called "Inflight PID tuning" in the wiki:
http://code.google.com/p/ardupirates/wiki/PID_tuning_Inflight

Hein's words: "You must also use channel 7 (flight mode 3 position
switch). From mid position switching away from you and back to mid
position increase a variable (example P_factor value) and, from mid
position pulling switch towards you and back to mid position decrease
a variable.
In configurator you will use the Serial Monitor. We will only use
small letters for commands that we send by pressing send command
button."

I don't know if I expressed myself correctly, I'll try again ;-)
The mod in the CLI to add the camera setup, is due to the following facts:

   - the parameters are now stored in the EEPROM, so we cannot use the current configurator as it does not have those options.
   - Hein's PID enjin, needs xBee to use it
   - Ground controls station is not ready yet, and I believe you need xBee to use it
   - teh new configurator, is still a work in progress

so if anyone that does not have xBee wants to tune those parameters, he would have two options:
   - Manually modifiy the function "defaultUserConfig" in Arducopter.h  (not recommended to newbies)
   - or use the new modified CLI

I thought this would be a good idea while we wait for the new configurator, to be able to configure those without xBee...

You're right, i did understand in a wrong way your last message...and
I forgot the problem if someone doesn't have xbee.
So, back to the beginning ;-)
I think it's a good idea to have the possibility to calibrate camera
smoothing through the CLI.
