Ahoy!

First, I would like to welcome everyone, I'm new here.

About myself: I'm interested in writing/supporting autopilot for
traditional helicopter. Right now I'm reading the codebase and getting
basic controls to work. Also I would like to implement some kind of
telemetry protocol to bypass RC equipment (i.e. fly from PC by digital
link only), but that is not subject of this post.

My question is: what is the status of traditional helicopter branch in
Pirates codebase? Are you doing it at all? I compared ArduCopter and
ArduPirates and it looks like heli code is very similar. It definitely
looks like Pirates code is more mature in general. If someone could
clarify how things look like at the moment it would be great.

Also: when I will have something to commit, how do I get on-board :) ?

Agggrrrrh!

Hey Marcin - welcome aboard!

today I just happened to install the hardware and the full software package
on a traditional heli (450). I took the ArduCopter code which was mainly
written by Randy (rmac...@yahoo.com) from the ArduCopter Team. The pirate's
(Dani`s) web configurator seemed not yet to be ready for the heli. So that´s
also a reason why I switched to the original code - what a shame, I know..

I am not really sure but I think the Heli had no big attention in the
Pirate's group up to now.

The code seems to work - although I couldn't really fly yet because of wrong
PID settings. I will need to do some more tests.

Please feel free to take over the pirate's heli ship and maybe it is good to
get in touch with Randy once a while. He seems to be the Pro on the Heli.

Norbert (aka Kinderkram) usually takes care of giving access to the
codelines.

Hi Marc

Thanks for reply. I was not able to compile ArduCopter code because of
some libraries incompatibilities. I didn't really looked into that
yet. I will get in touch with Randy, thanks.

Hi Marcin,
welcome to Pirates' Island.

You are among the first asking for trad. heli code. That's why there
weren't many efforts and tests on that matter.
But you could change that. ;)
After contacting Randy and willing to contribute you could send me
your Google mail address so I can add you to the group of Pirate
coders.

Trad. heli code would fill the gap for single rotors - for now it
supports bi, quad, hexa and octo code...

Way to go!

Norbert

Hi

I sent email to Randy today, I also found a bug in current code (see
thread about '1' command). If you grant me repository access I will be
able to fix this. My email is marcin.b...@gmail.com

Cheers
Marcin
