We would be interested in more events allowing young, advanced developers (14yrs old) to participate and find mentions to feed them in their Arduino journey. Perhaps require a parent to attend with minors? Thank you Julie Strommen.

Hi everyone,
Wanted to pass this opportunity along to those of you interested in
building connected things...

On August 18, Ayla Networks will present a FREE Hands-on IoT Lab at the
University of St. Thomas (Minneapolis campus) for product designers and
product managers looking to explore how to create a connected device.

The lab is designed for product management and product marketing
professionals, and will help you acquire a more in-depth understanding of
how to create a connected device. Participants will not need technical
skills or experience with IoT for this event. All hardware and software
tools required will be provided.

In the lab, you will:

* Connect a dev kit to a mobile app
* Learn the necessary steps to help you successfully launch a high volume
connected product
* See how you can manage the architecture, creation, and ongoing data
collection for connected devices
* Understand issues you should consider when creating a cloud connected
device

This is a rare opportunity for product marketers and product managers to
experience a connected device first-hand.

Hi Julie,
Let's keep in touch on this suggestion. While this workshop might not be the best fit this time, a new organization that I've formed called Lab651 is opening up a new office in a few weeks and I would love to talk with you and others in the community about ways that we could have volunteer run workshops and hack nights to teach people of all ages Arduino / Open Hardware, 3D printing and other STEM related activities. I'll post more details on the space to you and the Arduino.MN community and our open house when we open.
Thanks,
