Hi All,

I posted the demo sketch for reading Insteon commands to the wiki:

It waits till it receives an insteon command via the serial modem, and then reports it via serial. While it seems to work well on my home setup, it would be great to confirm it functions for others as well.

In addition, I've added some better diagrams to the home automation shield page:
One diagram labels the different parts of the board to help clarify the functions/features. The other diagram at the bottom illustrates which pins do what.

Enjoy!

Alan,

Very nice work ! I had done a hand drawn sketch so I could relate all the pin outs an this helps a lot . I will try to get to testing your code , I deviated into my RTC with I2C lcd display project that will be combined with Insteon control ( long story :) ) .

OK , just loaded and tested with my Insteon dimmer and code results show much good info . There is a few ? , but I think that is because I have the dimmer set to come on at 50% with one touch . I will keep testing to see that the results are consistent. I will try holding the control to see what is sent when ramping up the control as well.  I do like what I see though !

Ok , here is the latest ! I added a counter with a toggle function to Alan's read Insteon sketch . The loop toggles about every 5 seconds and on each toggle , the serial monitor displays the info for the device ! NICE !!
How do I share the sketch in case someone else wants to try this?

Bob,

It's great to hear the read insteon sketch is working! You're right about the dimming, I think I only set it up to detect full on or full off.  For the next iteration, it would be great to modify this test sketch so it can report the dimming levels too so we don't get a "?" in those cases.

The sketch that you've built sounds very handy. I'd be happy to add it to the wiki if you like. Perhaps it'd be useful to create a series of pages that allow us to profile people's different projects and sketches.  And over the long term it sure would sure be nice to work towards a full insteon library.

Here is the sketch in wordpad ...let me know if there is a better format to send the sketch. I added comments at the top of the sketch to describe the changes I made.
