Hi,

I've used ArcSWAT for hydrological modelling simulation for a catchment. My question is related to delineation stage of the model, there is a reservoir in my catchment with daily flow out release. The stream must be started from reservoir in real situation in the field. However, the created reach (stream network) in ArcSWAT model is started  a distance from reservoir, please see the attached two pictures . I just wonder how can I edit created reach without make any error in SWAT model to meet the real situation?

Many thanks in advance,

Dear Salam,

I have faced the same problem previously.
You can use the access file of the project (the same name as your SWAT project), then go to teh Reach tab and modify FROM Node and To Node in order to modify your stream network.
Hope this works.
Cheers,
Farzad

Dear Farzad,
Thanks a lot for your feedback. I just wonder what things I have to change because it is the first time to me to face this issue. In other words, what is the detailed procedure to do that ? if you have a file contains an instructions it will be great !
Cheers,
Salam :)

Dear Salam,

Actually my problem was a break in my stream network when I used the burn-in option. Actually I used the DEM based stream without burn-in while the problem was in my default stream. But I  I asked this solution from Dr. Karim but I didn't use it exactly
If you want to modify your stream using the access file you should first find the number of nodes that should be mnodifed and connected and  then go to the Reach tab of project access file and then modify FROM Node and To Node in order to modify your stream network.
Furthermore, I think defining the coordinates of the dam as an outlet during watershed delineation,as Dr. Jim said is a better way in your case.

Best Wishes.

Dear Farzad,
I have read all post about reservoir and see all valuable answer of Dr Jim and I understand that I must add outlet at the end of reservoir and I tried to do that but does not work and the outlet move down 2 km away from reservoir and I'm not sure is that correct or not . I can add reservoir but it is away about 2 km from the actual outlet of reservoir .

Many thanks,

Dear Farzad,
I solved problem Dr Karim gave this suggestion ( you need to make the threshold area for delineating streams smaller so that you have a river where you want to put a reservoir. ) and its work.
Thanks,
