Do a Google search on a plug-in to Excel that will allow you to write dbfs.  I found one some time ago and it seems to work fine, so I know they're out there.  Otherwise, you can transfer the Excel worksheet as a table to Access, and then export the table to dbf (I think), but that's a hassle.

The tables and data can also be in .txt format with examples in install folders.

If you have MS Access, you could import .xlsx files and then export it is as a dbase (.dbf) file.

You can also do this in ArcGIS. Save the .xls as a csv and then import into Arc- then export it as a .dbf. It's a pain to do manually but if you have the data as a .csv you can script the rest.

Hi Monichoth,

I work with Excel 2010, but in order to save to .dbf format, I open the file (xlsx) with the "Open Office Calc" and than save as .dbf.

Hope I'ts work with you too.

Use Google to search for an Excel add-in that will allow writing dbf files.  I'm pretty sure some exist.

1st In Excel, select your data and click Insert -> Table.....It will create bondaries to the spreedshed.
2nd open the excel spreedshed directly in ArcGIS (Add Data - double click on the excel.xls(x) file, the spreedshed appears)
3rd Open Attribute Table and Export Data as DBF file

You can also import a spreadsheet using Access 2010 (External Data tab on the ribbon) and then export it as dbf. Use the dBase File option (Under External Data -> Export -> More)
