Hello All,

I have been struggling with the errors that are coming up regularly with ArcSWAT 2009.10.1 (see, e.g., https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!searchin/arcswat/HRESULT$20E_FAIL%7Csort:date/arcswat/WA65sJeqQTw/fa05gXe5eyIJ, and the rest seem to be somewhat similar), and so considering switching to ArcSWAT 2012. However, before I upgrade ArcGIS and install a new version of ArcSWAT, I wanted to ask a few questions. I appreciate any help I can get, especially from the developers.

1. How much have the soils tables changed in ArcSWAT 2012? I needed to make some changes to add certain soils to ArcSWAT 2009, and would like to know if it will be a huge hassle to make those changes again. If the fields for usersoil are the same I believe it should be simple to copy and paste the data--if there are lots of changes, however, it is likely to be painful.

2. I know that the calibration setup has changed from the in-ArcSWAT calibration tools to SWAT-CUP. However, I've been looking at SWAT-CUP some, and it seems that a lot of the calibration file setups have changed (e.g., there is a difference between changepar in ArcSWAT 2009 to ParaSol_Par.Def in ArcSWAT 2012, though they seem to both set the bounds on the parameters to be calibrated). Does ArcSWAT 2012 output the correct calibration file structures for use with SWAT-CUP, or will I need to manually create tools to make those changes?

3. Any other changes of which I should be aware?

Thanks for your time.

Best,
James

I just wanted to bump this, since I haven't received any responses. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have.

Thanks,
James

Hello,

I switched to SWAT2012 recently. I did not have any problems adding new soils in the database. However importing the weather data and the SWAT2012 database are slightly different.

Hello James, I hope it's not too late to respond

I did the change between swat2009 to swat 2012 last week. I had problems with the blanks in the database but except for this all went well.

1Y You can use the same dbf or txt in the SWAT2009. The database is similar but soils have few extra fields, if you do not have them, just put zero do not leave blanks.

2.   About the SWAT-CUP I´m using sufi2 with good results.
