Hi SWAT users,

So I have been inputting my weather data directly into the SWAT2012 Access database WGEN_user table i.e I deleted all preexisting example weather stations and imported the attached .csv (Weather_FILLED.csv) as a replacement. I left the header for the WGEN_user table in tact.

When I Write the Input Tables- Weather Data Definition, SWAT allows me to select the WGEN_user table, while under the Weather Generator Data tab and reads that there are all 42 stations in my table but when i select 'OK' the attached error occurs (Weather_Error.jpg).

Does anybody have any ideas what might be causing this? As I mentioned I have attached the .csv I am using for my weather data import if you want to take a look.

Regards,
Jonathan

in your csv file, I see there are many -99 values, which is not acceptable. Please fix them first and replace the wgen_user table

Hi there,

Bar simulating the data there is no way I can replace these values. The government data for the area of my study is sporadic at best. I did read in the SWAT Input/Output documentation however that you can input -99 values for nodata and SWAT does it's best to simulate missing values from the observed data you do have. Unless I am mistaken?

Jonathan

The swat documentation refers to simulating individual variables using the weather generator statistics. So the weather statistics wgen_user table should be fully populated. Hope this helps.

In that case there are only two stations that I have complete data for. This leaves me with the question how accurate is my model going to be considering I am modelling an area of 5,660 km2 and will have 2 weather stations approximately only 60km apart?

At any rate I also managed to overcome the error; it wasn't due to the -99 values (which obviously still is a problem i have to overcome) but due to an apostrophe in one of the station names- see OBJECTID #27 in the previously attached .csv.

Do you however have any suggestions regarding my missing data? It seems a waste to cut 40 weather stations...

There is a new data source for weather from globalweather.tamu.edu
This is roughly 40km x 40km resolution data.

Thank you for the link to the data, I appreciate the time and effort you have gone to in replying to my problem. I am sure it will fill the gaps in my dataset, currently however I am getting the following error (see attached .jpg). Is this an error from my end?

Hi,
So all the data fits together nicely with my observed values. However I noticed a discrepancy with the solar radiation in the data extent I selected. For solar, on the 12/31/.... every year, the generated data registers as 0, in addition to this the same problem also occurs for the 5/31/1986 on all lat/long points. If you would like the data link I was sent I can email that to you. It doesn't make a huge amount of difference at the end of the day, I can either omit these values or just take a monthly average etc. I just thought you should be informed of the possible error.

Thanks again for the data,
Jonathan
