Hello. I was trying to develop a swat model for a river basin where many wetlands exist. I have explored some previous studies where they have incorporated modified water balance equation, SWATrw module etc. by defining the depth-area-volume relationship of the wetlands.  But I don't know how to setup the model or how to define the wetlands within my basin.

Can anyone help me here or provide any detailed manual how to do it ? Thanks

Hello,
Refer to Chapter 28 of the swat2012 I/O manual to get an idea what is required to model wetlands. You will need to setup the .pnd files with appropriate parameters. It can be done via the ArcSWAT interface, as far as I remember. Try to setup one pond/wetland and see how it goes. You will figure out the rest, I'm sure :)
Best,
Natalja

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I have gone through the document.

As I understand, I may get the surface area by classifying satellite images. But I was a bit confused about how to estimate the depth of the wetland to get the volume of the wetland ?
And what values would be good for WET_Fr , WET_K ?

Thanks again for the response.

Hello,
Well, for " how to estimate the depth of the wetland to get the volume of the wetland ? what values would be good for WET_Fr , WET_K ?" you can:
- get into national databases and find out;
- ask the local authority/responsible unit;
- consult a local expert;
- go and measure the depth and other properties;
- use your imagination :)
or .. hint: try to google the answer.
All the best,
Natalja
