Dear all,

I have a problem with the "weather data definition" phase of work:

1) I have imported all my weather generation data into the WGEN User Table in the SWAT2012.mdb in the appropriate format.

2)For each station I created the individual files of temperature and precipitation.

3)I also created the "temperature location table" and "precipitation location table" .

When I enter the "Weather generation table", "Precipitation gage location table" and "Temperature gage location table" in "weather data definition" window, I get this error message: UN UNKNOWN ERROR OCCURRED AND THE PROCESSING IS TERMINATING.

I also noticed that on page 142 of ArcSWAT Help manual, the figure 7.2 shows two possible alternatives can be selected: 1) U.S. database 2) Custum database (of which you have to load a location table); BUT in my ArcSWAT_2012 this window does not appear that way, but with only the words: "Select Monthly Weather Database / Location table ..." and in the dropdown menu these alternatives appear: "WGEN_US_FirstOrder", "WGEN_User", "WGEN_US_COOP_1960_1990", "WGEN_US_COOP_1960_2010", "WGEN_US_COOP_1970_2000", "WGEN_US_COOP_1980_2010"!

I infer, from this, that I do not have the option to upload a "Wather generation LOCATION table," but only the "Weather generation data table".

I would be most grateful if you would give me an opinion on the problem that I have set out and I thank you in advance.

Hello,

do you prepare text files or mdb files? I am asking because in this new version of Arcswat, you can only use text files and not mdb files. You could also get an error if you have missing data or if you do not have the same number of observations for temperature and precipitation. It is also good to check the files from the example where you have the correct format.

I've prepared TEXT files!!  I enclose the location table and 2 examples  of precipitation and temperature files so you can tell me what you think about!
pluv.txt
temp.txt
pA202.txt
tA202.txt

Hi Silvia,

What version of ArcGis are you using?
Cause I'm using the version 10.1, and I'm having the same problem. I've already tried to execute the Example1 in ArcSWAT and the Example of the ArcEditor, but both present the unknown error message when I click in OK in the "Weather Stations" window. So the problem can be in the program or in some step of instalation.

I hope to back with a solution as soon as possible, or find here!

Thanks,
Jorge

Dear Silvia,

I noticed that you have a couple of -99.000 values in your data and maybe these are the ones that cause the problem. You can fill in your missing data with extrapolation or a value that you think it makes sence. You should also check that you have the same number of data for both precipitation and temperature, that means that your files must have the same number of rows.

I hope this helps

Hi Jorge,

idem! I use the version 10.1! I have already tried to switch to the latest version of arcswat: ArcSWAT 2012.10.1.8, but the error persists!!

hello maria!
thanks for your answer! I checked the number of rows in each file and it is ok!

but, according to what the manual says, the "-99" should not be later replaced by the values given by the generator?

Hello Silvia,

I also had an error like that, which was fixed after I filled in the missing data, this is why I suggested that maybe the -99 values cause the problem but I am not sure. Apart from the location tables did you add your weather stations in the WGEN_user table in the SWAT2012 database? I cannot think of something else, but you could also check the example files in the ExInputs folder.

I hope you get it sorted.

Dear all.

I finally solved the problem asking the SWAT team, I had to change keyboard settings from Italian to English/American!!!! I would never have thought that the problem was this!

Hi Silvia,

I have also tried to change the keyboard settings, but the problem continue. How did you change these settings? Did you also change some setting in arcGIS?

Thanks,
Jorge

Thanks Silvia,

I changed the language system and, apparently, the problem is solved.

See you,
Jorge
