crop distribution in each sub basin

Hi everyone,

I am trying to find out the effect of long term changes in crop pattern in a catchment in Germany. I have the crop distribution in each Sub basin in my catchment like wheat, potato, barley, etc. Now I need to transfer these value to the SWAT. I have splitted AGRL into these crops as Sub land use using land use refinement option. This can be done on the whole catchment basis but not in the Sub basin level that I require. Can anyone help me that how can I define different crops in each Sub basin?

i have the same problem, i want to split AGRL to CORN, DWHT and AGRC, but  using land use refinement option i can do this in whole  basin and not in each sub basin. anyone help?

Hi,

You can change the land use in each subbasin in "Land use update" section. Follow this path in ArcSWAT: 

Edit SWAT Input -----> Watershed Data -----> Land Use Update (.LUP).

as i said before  i want to split AGRL to CORN, DWHT and AGRC for different percentage in each subbasin. if i understand, this will be done in HRU Deinition -> Land Use Refirement, but this section is for whole basin and not for each subbasin. how can i split for each sub basin? 

if i try to change the land use in each subbasin in "Land use update" section, without split AGRL in Land Use Refirement, then i can't as CORN, DWHT and AGRC doesn't exist.

You can split for each subbasin in Land Use Update (.LUP). See the attached file.

i can't do this as i want to add some new landuse, (to split AGRL to some new landuses) which they don't exist in my project now.

Add new land use using HRU Analysis tab then try with "*LUP" in order to splitting.

if i add new landuse in HRU Analysis tab, the model ask me to give the percentages. i think that these percentages are for whole basin and not for each subbasin. 

i give an example:

i have 4 landuse from landuse map

FRST

PAST

AGRR

URML

and i want to replace AGRR with 55% DWHT and 45% CORN in subbasin 1

                   replace AGRR with 40% DWHT and 60% CORN in subbasin 2

                   replace AGRR with 70% DWHT and 30% CORN in subbasin 3

if i split AGRR in HRU definition to DWHT and CORN, then i mast give percentages for whole basin, and then the model will create HRUs for these percentages.

what i should do in Landuse update?

In Land use update you can change a land use to another that available in your database previously. 

If you have a new land use that not available in your map, you must insert new land uses in HRU Definition then change at subbasin level in LUP.

yes, i understand this, but in landuse update it is possible to change only landuse changes that are in HRU levels. if you have set hru in 15% for landuse, then all landuse <15% don't exist in landuse update and isn't possible to change the percentages as you said.

Marios,

You can define exemption in "Land use Threshold Exemption" for specific land use in "Land use Refinement" window. So in this situation, if you set 15% for land use and define "Agri" (for example) as an exemption,  Agri<15% will remain in your model.
