Help with Statsgo Data

I am trying to load soil data from statsgo, but can't seem to get the
stmuid correct. There is NO attribute in my statsgo data called
stmuid. I did not use the SWAT statsgo database because my project is
using a different projection (I'm assuming this is the issue) than the
statsgo data (error: SWAT_HRUS - All geometries involved in this
operation must have the same spatial reference). I really don't want
to re-project all of my grids...again.

So, I have the statsgo shapefile with 4 attributes: "areasymbol",
"spatialver", "musym" and "mukey"

I believe I'm supposed to link the "musym" number to some sort of
database, but not sure how.
Any advice is much appreciated.

(1) I presume you downloaded the new STATSGO data -- let's call it STATSGO-2.  And you're right,  there is no stmuid, as there is in the older STATSGO-1 data.  I have been unable to find any information about how to link up STATSGO-2 data to the older stmuid key -- I've asked on this list-serv and also spent some time googling, without success.  

(2) The simplest "fix" is to re-project the soils grid that comes bundled with the ArcSWAT to your area.  It's a fairly coarse grid (something like 250-m) and re-projection doesn't take too long, even though it includes the entire USA.  I'd make a copy of the grid as a backup first.  

Sorry I don't have a more satisfying fix...

The Stmuid is a concatenation of the state symbol and the muid symbol
in the old data structure format. ArcSWAT 2.0, released 02/08/08,
supposedly updated to the data structure of STATSGO2. If anyone has
any issues, feel free to contact me.
