Elevation bands?

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience with elevation bands in watersheds where
snow is important? It seems that a lot of the SWAT papers that
incorporate snowmelt processes use elevation bands, but I am not clear
on how you derive temperature and precipitation lapse rates. Any
advice would be appreciated!

Yes I use elevation band cause 48% of my watershed is covered by glacier and half of the year its covered with Snow(Because its in Switzerland)
now what you have to do is that you subdivide the elevation of your watershed into 4/5 band and plug the snow(SNOEB)  from any existing snow cover map.
Normally I dont put temperature and precipitation laps rate before auto calibration. you can get those values after auto calibration and then you can replace the default value

Hi Kazi,

I know this was posted long time ago. I am dealing with a snow-dominated watershed. How do you make the elevation bands? There is "generated elevation band" function in Arcswat HRU analysis. Are you using that or something else in SWAT-CUP?
