Dear friends,

This is the situation at the end part of my basin (please see the attached). The red point is the basin outlet, while upstream there are two monitoring points (set by ArcSWAT) which drain two upland sub-basins. In the watershed delineator, when the stream definition is completed I add an additional monitoring point (light blue point) slightly downstream of the two upland sub-basins' outlets and upstream of the basin outlet. The reason I do this is because at this point I there is a hydrometric station which I will later use for the calibration of my model. Please note that I don't want to set this point as the outlet of the basin. I want to keep my outlet where it is and simply add an this point.

After the watershed delineation was done, I was hoping to get an additional small sub-basin drained by the added point so that SWAT will give output there. Instead no new sub-basin is formed and when opening the attribute table of the monitoring points, the added point is "NULL".

I hope I have sufficiently described the problem.

I could really use some help with this.

Thank you in advance,
Kostas

Hello,
Probably you missed a step. After adding the point - you have to re-calculate the watershed parameters (I do not remember the correct name of the "button"). The new sub-basin grid will be formed.
You can also delete the ArcSWAT assigned points, if you wish so.
Best,
Natalja

Natalja, thank you very much for your immediate response.

I am not sure about this. Maybe I am wrong, but if you take a look to the watershed delineation editor (please see attached) the step you refer to should be the last one "Calculate subbasin parameters". In my case, the problem arises before this step, when I select the "Delineate watershed" button. While this process successfully finishes, it leaves me with a "NULL" point, but more importantly no additional sub-basin created (I believe that an additional sub-basin drained by the new point should be created). I do not believe that the final step "Calculate subbasin parameters" will change any of this.

What do you think? Please pardon me if I have misunderstood your reply, maybe you refer to something else that I did not get. In any case, I would be much interested to get your feedback on this.

Thanks again,
Kostas

Solved it thanks to Dr. Srinivasan!! I was adding the point in the feature "monitoring points" and not as an outlet. I simply had to add two outlets and just select one of them as the outlet of the whole watershed. This is the correct way to add monitoring points. Otherwise, SWAT does not recognize them.

Thank you all for your help. Special thanks to Dr. Srinivasan!

Best,
