Dear All,

I need a clarification for using the term “Parameter Regionalization” in my SWAT model.

There are nine local streams (attached map) in my model but only one river has flow station. I calibrated my SWAT model for flow at that flow station. During manual calibration, I selected all the ungauged subbasins to apply the calibrated parameters for those subbasins (attached). So, the ungauged subbasin parameters are changed accordingly.

Can anyone please tell me whether this parameter transfer process for the ungauged subbasin would be called the "Parameter Regionalization" approach?

Thanks for your time.

Hello,
Well, you identified the name of the method by which to transfer parameters, but it is not as simple as just assigning the same parameter values to a different location/subbasins.
If you search for "Parameter Regionalization", there are several good articles talking about concrete methods which you could use to determine your parameter values (based on distances, topographic features, soil conditions, etc.).
On the other hand, your study area seems quite small (but maybe I'm mistaken), so it might be that, even with the applied regionalization methods, you wont get much of a difference/value distribution.
In any case, consult the literature and choose what is more suitable for your case.

All the best,
Natalja
